Appeared in my timeline, a friend is trans, but not medically transitioning-and sort of only part time living as a woman.
We have not discussed this issue-they Have no idea on my standpoint at the moment.

What an absolute plonker. He doesn't get it. Lucky old him, not having to.

FekkoTheLawyer · 22/10/2018 19:34

There was a time - simpler days you may say - when a man in a dress would just keep it for best, and wearing aroud the house with the curtains closed, and would be mortified if his mum found out. Apart from a glitches in fashion that were glam rock and new romantics but it's best to gloss over those fashion crimes.

Bonions · 22/10/2018 19:35

freespeecher I hadn’t heard of chesterton’s gate before - thank you! Every day is a school day

BettyDuMonde · 22/10/2018 19:38

I’ve seen this, thankfully only because it was shared to a GC group as a WTF? Moment, rather than on a friend’s timeline.

This is (to coin an Americanism that I’m not particularly fond of) a prime example of someone’s ‘privilege showing’.

I hope they have a sturdy pair of underpants on under that frock, because we certainly don’t need to witness any more of their maleness any time soon.

AutumnalFeelings · 22/10/2018 19:51

He sounds like a complete dick, but if he's your friend it's a bit weird to share his name with no redaction on mumsnet? Pretty sure it wouldn't be allowed on any other part of the site, even if the poster was being a massive twat.

AspieAndProud · 22/10/2018 19:54

I care more about people and their safety than what's between their legs.

I care more about people and their safety than if they carry a knife.

Except them carring a knife is what threatens safety in the first place.

MrsEldritch · 22/10/2018 19:57

@AutumnalFeelings my friends posted this image on his news feed-with high five hands, it's not his actual words.

There's a bunch of examples here:

Oh lovely. Another man who has no idea or experience of how women and girls feel vulnerable, and are raised and socialised to be 'nice' even when their instincts are screaming that something isn't right.

How great that he's "informed". He knows what it's like to have a man twice your age grab your breasts - in the middle of the day when you've left the office to go and get some lunch. He knows what it's like to be catcalled and have your body commented on by complete strangers when you're on your own and have to walk past a group of drunk men. He knows what it's like to be cornered in a lift, or in a dead end, by a 'handsy' guy who doesn't want to take 'no' for an answer and is bigger, taller and stronger than you are.

Yep - it's all about the dress. The dress doesn't symbolise the thin end of a wedge at all. And he's totally not mansplaining a thing that he knows fuck-all about because he's not and never will be female, shorter, lighter, weaker and more vulnerable.

Just. Fuck. Off.

Take your entitled male privilege and stop telling me and women like me, that we're wrong, that we're overreacting and that nothing will change. When was the last time you were sexually assaulted? How far into adolescence did you get before being inappropriately touched?

Fuck off.

Deliriumoftheendless · 22/10/2018 20:12

I remember drinking in a pub that had the bright idea of taking the doors off the cubicles. It didn’t last. Women didn’t really like pissing in front of stranger who were of the same sex class as them. I doubt they have been cheering for self id there.

I’ve been in countless toilets where the lock doesn’t work or the lock has been removed. I have found most women (myself included) have been quite careful to push it enough to see if a cubicle is empty and wait and see if anyone says “busy!”

I’m totally sure a man would do that and not use it for nefarious reasons.

Plenty of cubicle get phones slipped under them or peepers looking over. It’s illegal, but it still happens in mixed changing rooms.

And the last 3 gyms and one current one I was a member of you had to walk through the changing room and shower area to access the toilets.

It’s not about toilets, but the idea they are a safe space to allow men into is laughable.

The Man With The Beard is back

Where to even start
FlyingMonkeys · 22/10/2018 20:13

'He has never seen anyone's genitals in the bathroom'. So he's never used a man's toilets with urinals? Transwomen should be afraid of getting assaulted by 'men' in men's bathrooms? But women shouldn't be afraid of getting assaulted by men in women's bathrooms? 🤔 Transwomen can't wear trousers? - He looks very 'smug' in his 'macho stance/in a dress with full beard (clearly taking the piss out of 'transwomen'- whilst waving a pro equality banner?).

PineappleSunrise · 22/10/2018 20:15

This is this generation's version of those blokes from 30 to 40-odd years ago who simply refused to believe that street harassment happens, isn't it?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 22/10/2018 20:15

I don't think he's taking the piss out of transwomen, I think he's being deliberately intimidating to women.
I must be so great to find a belief system that lets you bully women and still feel good about yourself.

FekkoTheLawyer · 22/10/2018 20:16

Just send him a link about that Steponknee one in Canada and ask if he would be happy for them to join his kids classroom or gym class.

MrsEldritch · 22/10/2018 20:26

It's just grim
The fear of speaking up has lifted tho, I had a great conversation the other day with a customer, who went onto the fpfw site and filled out the consult-she had spoken with a group who had all in one way or another become aware of this madness.
But the poster of this image is a bridge too far-and I just feel like I'm back to square one battering my head against a wall

This is about men not wanting to acknowledge TW are male born. I have to censor myself here.

HilltopTractor · 22/10/2018 20:34

Is he is scary in life as he looks in the photograph? #PredatorsEyes

MrsEldritch · 22/10/2018 20:42

Sorry I reread my op and I've not made it clear that my friend posted this image, this isn't actually him!
Although my friend is trans Mtf.

Is he as wilfully ignorant as he presents himself on social media? #DefinitionOfMalePrivilege

NoseringGirl · 22/10/2018 20:49

A woker than woke dude bro 'friend' of mine on Facebook reposted this recently. It made me angry in ways I couldn't even articulate. Relieved to see all the feelings I had explained so well on here.

FekkoTheLawyer · 22/10/2018 20:52

My late mother would have handbagged him if she met him in Jenners ladies loos.

My grandmother was more, er 'fiesty' and would have probably man-handled him out. You wouldn't mess with my grandmother - she kept a pair of knuckledusters that she had during WW2 (for self-defense should the Germans invade).

GulagsMyArse · 22/10/2018 21:01

Fekko Grin I like the sound of your granny

Badstyley · 22/10/2018 21:02

Cock!

FekkoTheLawyer · 22/10/2018 21:04

She also had an ornate fruit knife in a beautiful painted a d carved bamboo sheath (with a nice silk tassel) that she kept in her handbag. It looked like a ladies fan!
