Thing is, I actually rated Andy W. He seemed unusual in that he was capable of independent thought.

A friend told me yesterday he was at an event in the Scottish Parliament on free speech last month. Irony klaxon.

Dollar Academy isn’t exactly Eton. There’s a bit of silly and irrelevant bashing here from people who clearly dislike the Greens for other reasons.

Also, nobody but Holyrood wonks knows who Wightman is. Most people would struggle to name a Green MSP other than Harvie or perhaps Chapman.

I have many reasons for disliking the Scottish Greens in general and Wightman in particular; none of them are silly.

I'm not a Holyrood "wonk", whatever that might be. Wightman is the author of 2 very successful books (Who owns Scotland and The Poor have No Lawyers) both of which are permanently on display in the Scottish section of Waterstones. I think anyone with even a smattering of interest in Scottish politics would have come across him.

I don't recall him expressing any particular interest in , or speaking about, green issues. The wilder fringes of the SNP would be a more natural fit but I suppose Sturgeon wouldn't want him.

No particular beef with the Scottish Green Party other than a late discovery of their misogyny!

And just pointing out that where a party (or any organisation, for that matter), is dominated almost completely by white middle class males, misogyny thrives.

Not that they are alone in this. The Scottish Lib Dems have NO female MSPs. Again, five white middle class males. They threw their only female MSP under a bus at the last election.
