Passed today. This is frightening. Comments on Twitter fairly critical.

And am Scottish no longer a women 😂😂 according to my government.
Silly tossers

BlackForestCake · 21/10/2018 23:46

I always wonder how their women-have-cocks position goes down with voters on the doorstep at election time. Or do they keep quiet about that?

GreenPartyResignation · 22/10/2018 07:08

Maybe it will help to bring some public ally dissenting voices in the Scottish Greens out into the open. I don't know much about the Scottish Green Party, but this can't be a good thing for them.

Back in England and Wales there are now more dissenting voices, and the AC business, so it's less likely to happen here.

It's very heartening to read the comments. People can see this is bullshit.

R0wantrees · 22/10/2018 09:15

On a recent thread, a member of the Liberal Democrat 'Radical group' expressed the same ditkat. They also added that they (personally?) did not want any votes from people who did not agree with the assertion. 'transwoman are women. transmen are men, non-binary people are legitimate and real' which they deem transphobic, ignorant and bigoted:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3399104-Times-Lib-Dem-trans-activists-hounded-abuse-victim-Natalie-Bird-Article-refers-to-Zoe-OConnell-Sarah-Brown?pg=9

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/10/2018 09:16

Labour also have a similar policy - stating that transwomen are not women is against party rules.

LassWiADelicateAir · 22/10/2018 09:37

The Scottish Green Party is an extreme, hard left, separatist party. I have no idea what its actual green policies are; they rarely mention them.

Its most vocal and prominent MSP is Andy Wightman who talks about nothing other than "land reform", which is simply class warfare.

The SNP minority administration need
Green Party support to stay in power.

SPOFS · 22/10/2018 14:07

I wish that the "TWAW" brigade would stop polluting good parties and start their own TWAW party.

But of course, they won't. They know nobody would buy it.

QuietContraryMary · 22/10/2018 14:18

Is Aimee Challenor still a member of the Scottish Greens?

AspieAndProud · 22/10/2018 14:23

I wish that the "TWAW" brigade would stop polluting good parties and start their own TWAW party.

That’s not how entryism works though.

It’s like asking cuckoos to build their own nest.

Juells · 22/10/2018 14:25

The Greens everywhere must be haemmorhaging members? They'd be my natural home if they weren't batshit crazy.

VickyEadie · 22/10/2018 14:27

If you can't accept that Jacinta Brooks is a woman, you're a transphobe and unwelcome in the Greens, then.

I'm grateful to them for clarifying that for me.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/10/2018 14:38

Is Aimee Challenor still a member of the Scottish Greens?

I think they resigned as they are now a member of the LibDems and you can't belong to multiple parties. Although I think they may still be a Global Greens member?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/10/2018 14:39

Although according to their twitter bio they have left that too.

LassWiADelicateAir · 22/10/2018 18:00

Why would Challenor be in the Scottish Greens?

So far as The Scottish Greens regardless of trans issues there are plenty of reasons not to vote for them.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/10/2018 18:21

Why would Challenor be in the Scottish Greens?

No idea..
To expand their political options? Because a member of their baby furry family is in Scotland. I believe they were also a member of the NI greens.

As an aside, sources suggest that other women in the party are far from happy with the motion. If you are still a member it may be worth reaching out privately to others you know.

ohello · 22/10/2018 18:25

Given that trans currently has every protection which could be described as legitimate, the only thing "trans exclusionary" means now is that women don't want penises in our showers and on our sports teams.

Is there anything else to be said? Except maybe, the people at the top must be taking in some heavy duty cash under the table, for any of this to be happening.

GreenPartyResignation · 22/10/2018 18:26

There have already been suggestions of a similar motion in England and Wales but there would definitely be push back against that.

OP posts:
ohello · 22/10/2018 18:37

You know what? Instead of saying "No debate", they are just saying "No transphobia". It's the same thing, they're still just silencing people.

theOtherPamAyres · 22/10/2018 18:47

Why would Challenor be in the Scottish Greens?

The Green Party (Scotland) is a stand-alone distinct political party from the Green party (England and Wales). Although AC left the Green Party of England and Wales, there's nothing to stop her joining the Green party of Scotland.

Patrick Harvie, the co-convenor of Green party of Scotland, and a bi-sexual man, gives the impression that he has a problem with women. His replies to letters from scottish women are dismissive, patronising and curt. He has no time for them and makes his attitude plain.

He is a patron of Parents Enquiry (Scotland). It set off as a support group for parents of Lesbian and Gay children, with help from Stonewall. It has broadened its remit (suprise, suprise) and runs a help-line for the parents of trans children - which sounds ominous, if the parents are receiving Mermaid-type affirmation advice.

With friends like Patrick Harvie, there is a ready made avenue for recruiting trans children and their parents. The last thing this elitist, mens' rights politician wants is for some troublesome women asking questions, I should think.

QuietContraryMary · 22/10/2018 18:59

Because a member of their baby furry family is in Scotland.

This. Aberdeen to be precise.

Me? I wouldn't have touched the Green Party with a barge pole even without this.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/10/2018 19:21

No. Not you Grin

howonearthdidwegethere · 23/10/2018 10:47

The Scottish Green MSPs:

100% white
5 out of 6 are men
One third are privately educated (Andy Wightman and Mark Ruskell)

Surprise, surprise: they also support full decriminalisation of 'sex work'

LassWiADelicateAir · 23/10/2018 13:55

Is Wightman privately educated? He is quite the Trot these days, along with "land reform" he is taking pot shots at private schools, including the excellent one my son was at.
