We are delighted to be in the House of Lords for a meeting to discuss the #GRAconsultation There will be no films of the event but you can follow #WPUKintheHouse

OK, I'm a little concerned about this tweet:

They were referring to the way the Womens and Equality Parliamentary Committee took written and oral evidence in 2016/2017 - prior to the publication of their recommendations.

In other words, the speaker was not referring to the consultation exercise happening until 19th October. They were talking about how the W&E parliamentary Committee came up with their recommendations, prior to the consultation exercise.

Was it raised that children are being encouraged to fill it in?

Melamin · 10/10/2018 21:58

Ah thanks - I thought it referred to that consultation at the time it was tweeted, but when you look at the tweet on its own, it is not so certain.

captainkirk -I was just thinking the same

Thank you - that wasn't clear to me from the sequence of tweets as I can't see a reference to that there. However, if they're complaining about the Miller consultation, I'd wholly support them as the selection of 'experts' and quality of evidence was a mockery of any rigour.

Good stuff!

DontCisgenderMe · 10/10/2018 22:07

Fantastic! Well done WPUK.

BoreOfWhabylon · 10/10/2018 22:25

Great stuff! Thanks WPUK and Baroness Winterbourne.

Lewis Moonie - Baron Moonie - is another member of the HOL who is very gender-critical on Twitter.

The meeting with peers showed the crucial importance of talking to people in real life. They may have read the GC articles in the newspapers, but the face-to-face contact took their understanding to another level.

While well-informed women have been on the streets, handing out leaflets and talking, TRAs have been floundering and harrumphing desperately on social media.

The Transgender organisations and lobbyists are in hiding, unwilling and unable to make a case. Yet, 12 short months ago they enjoyed exclusive rights to advise government departments and had access to the corridors of power.

There has been a shift, but there's still a mountain to climb.

Note to self: order more leaflets; ramp up the volume

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 10/10/2018 23:59

It's been amazing.

MnerXX · 11/10/2018 00:23

Thank you

(PS. is "peer" the same as pee-er?)

Deliriumoftheendless · 11/10/2018 08:24

The woman I saw in the street from FPFW was calm, sensible, rational and friendly. If I had not come across any of this “debate” I would have been very convinced by what she was saying. As it seems many others are.

TRAs wouldn’t go out and do the grafting but imagine if they did? They’d be hectoring and bullshitting and working against themselves.

AngryAttackKittens · 11/10/2018 08:34

Brilliantly done, sisters. Now for the Commons.

(Which will be much harder, because they all seem to think Twitter = public opinion and that if they don't go along with the nonsense they'll lose their positions.)

theOtherPamAyres · 11/10/2018 10:22

I was chuffed to see that Parliament welcomed WPUK with this banner.

How ironic that while Parliament was reaching out to a women's organisation, a media company in Edinburgh was removing Adult Human Female banners from buses.

Once again the company had accepted the lie that a women's organisation is a hate group.
