Brave and stunning Hannah Mouncey who has fought hard to be allowed to play in Australian women's football is adamant she has no physical advantages over her peers now she's started on HRT

A danger of being all too literally 'stunning' in any contact sport, I'd have thought.

SPOFS · 01/09/2018 01:13

You coven of witches! Can't you see how stunning and brave our beautiful new sister is?

We all know that you're just jealous. Trans women are better women than any CIS woman will ever be. After all, femininity was invented by men!

SD1978 · 01/09/2018 03:43

Such a pity women are so weak that their back issues are playing up because of all that muscle wastage and loss. Maybe we should have a disability payment started for women as they obviously can't carry their own body weight due to their fragility........

PenelopeFlintstone · 01/09/2018 03:45

Yep. Total joke.

PeakPants · 01/09/2018 05:25

Yeah I also read that HM broke someone’s leg in a tackle.
This is such a fucking joke.

There is something about this situation which is incredibly fascinating to me.

It is completely obvious that tgis person is not only male, but being stronger and taller than the females he's playing against, is a danger to them too. And yet I've seen people on here and on Twitter swear blind this is a group of women playing and he has no physical advantage. What does that say about us? It's strayed into proper Orwellian territory and yet people are keeping up the pretense as if their lives depended on it.

This will make a good, if depressing, Phd when all the nonsense has moved onto something else. And please god it does soon.

EntropicTupperwareDrawer · 01/09/2018 07:08

Agree, gendercritter.

Hannah is a danger to women Hannah plays against and we need to stop this delusion before more women get hurt. Hannah, you are a cheat and you ought to be ashamed of yourself.

pachyderm · 01/09/2018 07:10

That was my first foray into posting GC views on social media a couple of years ago. The sports issue. Would've thought it was fairly uncontroversial.

Let's just say, I lost a lot of respect for some people. Sad

Datun · 01/09/2018 07:34

Bloody hell NotTerfNorCis, that article you linked.

From the day we can talk we are taught that men are stronger than women, a fallacy and a farce in equal measure that many people still consider gospel.

I recall grabbing my opponent by the collar like she had to me and loudly exclaiming that there’s nothing wrong with being strong. I am proud to be a strong woman. And the strength I bring to the football field every week isn’t measured by muscles that have atrophied to almost nothing

Followed by

You live daily with the micro aggressions, the mockery, the hate. And here on the football field the message was delivered clearly: “Stop being so strong.”

The truth is, I’m stronger now than I ever have been, and I’m not going to let any opponent, not even the AFL, hold me back.

This isn't even gaslighting, it doesn't have the nuance.

It's barefaced, self obsessed lying.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 01/09/2018 08:22

And the strength I bring to the football field every week isn’t measured by muscles that have atrophied to almost nothing.

Back in the day I used to lift a lot of weights several days a week. At my fittest and strongest, and I am naturally strong for a woman, I didn't have anywhere near the muscular development evidenced by the "atrophied" muscles of this young person.

sashh · 01/09/2018 08:30

What's all the fuss? All the opposition need to do is dead name or use the wrong pronouns and she will be blubbing in the corner.

Oscarino · 01/09/2018 08:40

The AFL is very sports science driven - they measure everything about their players. There was no way Mouncey was going to get away with claiming no physical advantage.

I think the AFL has handled this well - they have avoided any question about gender identity and just stuck to the point that Mouncey is so far outside the physical parameters of women’s football that it would be dangerous for Mouncey to play at an elite level.

Lower levels are much more “everybody can play” but of course Mouncey spat the dummy when they weren’t allowed to make a mockery of the national league.

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 01/09/2018 08:45

Call me naive, but I would have thought the photographs alone need no words in order to peak trans people, but it seems they're still deluded and that I was over estimating people's grip of reality.

I can't read the words without pinching myself.

The stranglehold (not just the explanatiom of the manly grip on a female player) is getting to me today.

Is Rugby pay like football? Will Hannah also be paid sheds more than the female players on the team?

TheChampagneGalop · 01/09/2018 12:23

Brad, is that you?

What are their vital stats?

Much taller and bulkier than other players and a lifetime of testosterone, and just the physical strength that men have can only be an advantage.

CheeseTheDay · 01/09/2018 13:41

I am the same height as Hannah, but she would easily overpower me, given the differences between us physically.

Datun · 01/09/2018 13:43

I think Hannah is 6 foot two and about 16 stone.

Bold fail, gaahhhhh! Angry

CheeseTheDay · 01/09/2018 14:22

Datun - she's 1.90m, which is 6ft 3, and apparently she is almost 16 stones.

By comparison, I am 11st 6, although admittedly not a rugby or Aussie rules player!

However, I do know a female rugby player who is 6ft 4, and even she doesn't weigh 16 stones.
