I just get visions of this proud mum gagging to show her new transitioned ‘daughter’ off at school.

Why would you even need to write that? Why wouldn’t you just write ‘bought this for my child, they love them’ ?

Make sure me really worried that some parents are so eager to appear cool and liberal they are backing their kids in to corner with it.

This irrationally pissed me off last night.

I can't see what it says, can you write it out?

VickyEadie · 22/08/2018 13:16

Are they nice, girly shoes?

HollyGibney · 22/08/2018 13:18

Because they love the attention and somehow they feel like it makes them stunningandbrave! by association. Good luck with fitting into shoes made for the opposite sex when they hit their teens. Mind you they'll probably have come up with a stunningandbrave! range for boys and girls who want to pretend to be the opposite sex by then. Nothing would surpriseme about this shit show anymore.

Gileswithachainsaw · 22/08/2018 13:18

Urgh.. bet they are crappy "girly" shoes that will mean they can't run about or play as well...

Yes even girls don't pick girls shoes half the time

VickyEadie · 22/08/2018 13:21

Yes even girls don't pick girls shoes half the time

My niece wears brogues. Many of her pals wear DMs. They mostly wear trousers to school, but sometimes skirts. They associate none of these items with the notion of "gender".

Optimusprimesmother · 22/08/2018 13:26

got these for my boy, who is transitioning to a girl. He is over the moon with them

So when is he transitioning? Now? Next week? First day of school?

Shouldn’t they be already calling him a ‘she’ if they truly believe he is? Confused

Clairetree1 · 22/08/2018 13:31

so they are trans shoes?

Maybe trans shoes are more girly than the shoes most girls wear

Optimusprimesmother · 22/08/2018 13:32

No they are just normal girls shoes in Clark’s

OP posts:
HollyGibney · 22/08/2018 13:32

Can we see a photo?

Optimusprimesmother · 22/08/2018 13:33

Maybe trans shoes are more girly than the shoes most girls wear

Actually laughed at that

If you click the link in OP it takes you to them

No one really buys Clark's shoes any more. Beyond the reception photo for presentation reasons....

They find our soon enough how shit they are and how impractical.

StroppyWoman · 22/08/2018 13:34

oh FFS.
"look at how interesting and special my family is. And we buy shoes too"

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/08/2018 13:35

"Maybe trans shoes are more girly than the shoes most girls wear"

At clarks this would mean they would have to be made out of bubble wrap and held on by sheer willpower. Not designed for girls to move at all and if they do is hardly clark's fault if they fall to piece immediately.

HollyGibney · 22/08/2018 13:35

Sorry, didn't see link. They only go up to size 12 so the child must be quite young.

It's all so tiring isn't it? 💤

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/08/2018 13:40

I didn't either!

They look quite chunky I actually quite like them!

Optimusprimesmother · 22/08/2018 13:43

Dd is having them. It’s these or sodding Lilly Kelly’s she has picked out - which won’t be happening! Tbh the others from last year did her well and I never had to replace them.

TransplantsArePlants · 22/08/2018 13:47

Oh they'll get scratched if her child wants to kick a football or climb stuff. I love a bit of patent but not for school.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/08/2018 13:49

The child won't as they are transing to girland girls don't do that stuff, so dont' worry.

HollyGibney · 22/08/2018 13:49

Oh they'll get scratched if her child wants to kick a football or climb stuff.

Her child won't be doing any of that. Not now they're a girl!

Optimusprimesmother · 22/08/2018 14:05

No - obviously they will be making daisy chains and playing house..

It's a visibility thing in the mind of the parent, I should think.

So, we're all reading it seeing the vanity of being evar so special and unique - I often see the same thing motivating my daughter's friends by being 'associated' with the cool, out there, issue.

But from the parent's perspective, I suspect that they think they are 'raising awareness' and increasing visibility by dropping little comments about this, likely in all sorts of places, online and offline too.

There will probably be no small amount of self-soothing going on too - proving to themselves how open minded and accepting they are.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 22/08/2018 14:17

What size were they?

I remember when mums used to let their kids get silly haircuts and dyed purple and got attention.

FloralBunting · 22/08/2018 14:18

Oh, but so not surprised to see that they are patent T-bars, the most impractical shoes aside from the ones Naomi Campbell fell over in.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 22/08/2018 14:19

I hated t-bars when I was a child.
