Reported in the Scottish Sun today:

Seems kosher to me.
The brave soul must be terrified in the mens prison.
They should be moved forthwith to be with the women where they will be able to live as their truest most authentic self.
Is there a petition I can sign?

Wanderabout · 16/08/2018 12:51

Thanks Nothing

What a bastard, leave him where he is, no wonder the other prisoners hate him.

heresyandwitchcraft · 16/08/2018 12:56

"This never happens"

NothingOnTellyAgain · 16/08/2018 12:57

He is being left wheer he is.

However.
If the activists had their way he'd be moved immediately. TWIW. What kind of monster locks a woman in a male prison? From their point of view this is incredibly cruel.

I don't trust the authorities to be able to risk assess sex offenders terribyl well - they are well known for being manipulative and convincing. Other TW who have committed sex crimes against women have been moved to female estate though. This is entirely unacceptable, full stop.

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 16/08/2018 13:00

You're kidding Nothing? Right?** 😳

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 16/08/2018 13:02

Sorry Nothing! I missed your second post.

Retract! Retract!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 16/08/2018 13:03

I'm actually pleasantly surprised that he wasn't moved.

viques · 16/08/2018 13:03

The thing is that if male prisoners say they are vulnerable in a male prison they can be moved to a vulnerable prisoners unit within the prison.

If female prisoners in a female prison are vulnerable because a violent rapist has been moved to their prison there is nowhere they can ask to be moved to because a vulnerable prisoners unit will not be large enough to house them all.

Gileswithachainsaw · 16/08/2018 13:06

Oh look it's that thing that never happens again Hmm

Hangingaroundtheportal · 16/08/2018 13:09

I'm awaiting this story appearing in The Guardian, with no mention of this blokes crimes, just the fact that he is being denied the right to go to a female prison.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 16/08/2018 13:11

Men who are vulnerable in a male prison probably inlcude

men who have committed sex crimes against children or the elderly
men who have committed "nasty" sex crimes ie ones with added violence / torture etc
men convicted of child cruetly
men who are gay
men who are not gay but the others think they are gay
men who are "pretty" (if my viewing of usa tv is anything to go by!)
men who have mental health problems (heart rending story the other day I can share it if anyone is interested - man with mental health and drug issues was explited, became addicted to harder drugs, ended up taking his own life, should never have been in prison in teh first place IMO)
Men who are vulnerable for other reasons

The bottom line is that men's prisons should be safe for ALL men. The idea that violence and rape are inevitable in a mens prison is appalling.
There is no reason to move some of these men to women's prisons because they say teh magic words "i am a woman" and start wearing lipstick FFS. What about all the other at risk men? Don't the trans crew care about them? It's all a bit I'm alright jack pull up the ladder.

bigKiteFlying · 16/08/2018 13:15

The decision to refuse the fiend’s demand has been hailed by politicians.

Vile Kilmarnock rapist who attacked second victim weeks after being released from prison early faces life behind bars after third rape
Tory justice spokesman Liam Kerr said: “This evil rapist should not be indulged.

It’s quite right that he was denied a transfer. Such a move would have seriously jeopardised the safety of female prisoners at Cornton Vale.

Progress possibly? - someone coming out publically and saying the obvious.

Along side all the regular trans voices claiming he's not really a real trans woman.

Cos let's face it you can't have it both ways. Either transwomen are women and should he treated or such. Or they aren't. You can't pretend all the ones you don't like are not real. After all the whole point is that anyone who says they trans is trans. That's what they are arguing for

MipMipMip · 16/08/2018 13:20

Please can you repost this in Chat or AIBU? Along with your excellent title and an explanation that if Self ID goes ahead he's already be there. We need to raise awareness.

Thanks.

Wanderabout · 16/08/2018 13:25

MipMipMip very happy for this to be posted in AIBU etc.

Even with a GRC I don't think this prisoner would get a place in a female prison right now. Though Legal challenges and lobbying might change that in future, who knows. I would have never imagined an intact male being housed with female prisoners so who knows...

bigkite it's a bit much though that a decision not to put a violent male sex offender in a womens prison is met with a round of applause though isn't it.

It shouldn't even be on the cards, not a possibility.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 16/08/2018 13:26

Shit I have misgendered.

Sorry MNHQ.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 16/08/2018 13:26

More than once too.

Poppyred85 · 16/08/2018 13:29

I don’t know what you’re all moaning about. There’s nothing to see here. You’re all just scare-mongering harpies.

happydappy2 · 16/08/2018 13:29

A small step in the right direction, of not putting men who ‘say they are women’ in womens prisons. The more publicity these shenanigans get the better.

Noqont · 16/08/2018 13:33

He's got a cock. He raped a woman with it. He belongs in the men's estate. And I hope he has a really shit time there.

bigKiteFlying · 16/08/2018 13:36

I don't think a round of applause is necessary but it's got to better than the stunning silence that’s been usual till recently.

TinyRick · 16/08/2018 13:42

'Stunning and brave'

Macareaux · 16/08/2018 13:43

Not wishing to be picky but there are two points I'd like to mention.

Firstly, a named transwoman has been repeatedly misgendered on this thread but there have been no deletions. Why @MNHQ?

Secondly, the media also misgenders this transwoman but only the other week they referred to another violent prisoner who had actually transferred from the male estate to the female estate as 'she'. Why the difference?
