James Wine nailed it as usual. Thank you

HotRocker · 20/07/2018 14:28

Hi James, thank you.

Another request for you to look at secure psychiatric wards. It has a particular personal interest for me.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 20/07/2018 14:43

Great work James. I love that you found submissions from expert psychologists saying 'yes this will happen'. We are so often told that it won't, even when it has...

LemonJello · 20/07/2018 15:41

Faultless logic.

The conclusion I come to is that everyone considers these women to be acceptable collateral damage.

JackyHolyoake · 20/07/2018 15:50

This statement resonates:

"But I believe that how we treat the weakest and worst among us is a comment on how we conduct ourselves as a society. "

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 20/07/2018 15:54

Good, concise article. Thanks James.

Popchyk · 20/07/2018 16:36

James Kirkup on Twitter:

twitter.com/jameskirkup/status/1020275741769060352

"Govt is consulting on legal changes. This group holds public meetings to discuss that. Some people try to stop those meetings. I know senior ppl in govt & Parliament are worried about free speech in this context. Time for them to speak publicly"

LangCleg · 20/07/2018 16:52

I love him for those prods to the politicos. Cowards, the lot of them. Leaving the risk and the danger to ordinary women. The bastards.

Ereshkigal · 20/07/2018 16:57

YY.

gendercritter · 20/07/2018 16:59

Absolutely. I hope everyone who is prepared to throw vulnerable women under a bus will be remembered for that in the way the Iraq war is Tony Blair's legacy. They are a disgrace.

speakingwoman · 20/07/2018 17:11

good article.

I don't think it's fair to post the whole thing. We need The Spectator to continue to exist.

Floisme · 20/07/2018 17:26

Thank you again James. And yes I am fast losing patience with these senior politicians who huddle in corners whispering their concerns to him but who won't speak out. I can understand it must be frightening but what's the point of being in politics if you're going to bottle it like this?

UglyCathKidstonBag · 20/07/2018 17:49

James, I thank you for taking a stand for women, particularly vulnerable women. When we women speak about this topic - even academics, field experts, doctors, scientists and those with experience - we are cornered and attacked.

I would be very interested in hearing your opinions on Facebook banning links to certain websites because of TRA pressures, along with Twitter suspending women for politely stating biological facts.

R0wantrees · 20/07/2018 18:13

James - if you are lurking, firstly hi and thanks! and secondly, please could you investigate locked mental health wards. Sectioned women have even less of a voice than female inmates do and there has already been one instance of inappropriate inclusion on the basis of gender identity

Further to @LangCleg 's request, there is a recent thread discsussing this and with important comments from women who may be affected:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3297578-NHS-confuse-sex-and-gender-on-advice-about-The-Mental-Health-Act

adding my thanks to you and The Spectator

hipsterfun · 20/07/2018 19:55

Another week, another excellent article!

Thanks, James Smile

hackmum · 20/07/2018 20:37

It was good to read that. I’ve read some of those quotes before, but have been looking for them recently without finding them. Important to have them all in the same place. People can’t deny they were warned this would happen.

boatyardblues · 20/07/2018 20:50

James is consistently on point on this topic. Another well researched, well argued piece. Thank you.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 20/07/2018 21:06

Well done, James. A hundred thanks!! Right now you are singlehandedly restoring my faith in men! LastBoyOnTheLeft excluded!

Indierockandroll · 20/07/2018 22:57

Thank you James. Another measured article that gets to the heart of the issue.

LadyLauraOver · 20/07/2018 23:11

Thank you James. Again.

loveyouradvice · 21/07/2018 11:20

Another one saying a huge thank you to James... your journalism is exceptional and the fact you are using it to discuss these issues is both brave and so important....

AngryAttackKittens · 21/07/2018 11:33

Kirkup continues to produce excellent work, but that being said, why is he almost the only one? Other prominent British journalists aren't exactly covering themselves in glory here in terms of their ability to do basic research and provide an objective overview of the situation.
