An interesting analysis of high st children's clothes.

My boy does love sharks buand he would say they're prey to humans - I must say I'd have struggled with many of the girls clothes these days as I'd have preferred the dinosaurs.

Regularish poster, I've nc.

This has just made me realise that I should be heading to the men's section for some pyjamas for myself. I've been looking in the women's section, and they're either too thin, too frilly, or they have ridiculous logos on them. I just want pyjamas that are comfortable, can be worn in the morning if I don't feel like getting dressed first thing, and PLAIN.

It's the same in reverse though - I wanted light trousers for my 2yo DS and I couldn't find any! Got him leggings from the girls section on the end!

Also why do girls get twice as much choice? The boys section is always tiny and shoved in the corner! I'd love more colourful clothes easily available for them

I noticed early on that if dd was dressed "pretty" she was treated differently than if she was in boy clothes. Strangers commented on her appearance every time.

So true. My DNwas constantly asked “who’s the prettiest girl in the world” and that’s how she learnt to say her name!!!

The problem is of course that when girls do as they’re told and learn the lesson that looks are so important, as they grow up they then become vilified for being vain and trading on their looks.

Damned if you do ...

sardines the fake drawstrings are not a girls thing - I've lost count of the number of trousers/shorts I've bought for my skinny boys only to find the drawstrings are fake! I try and remember to check now

Using the boys/men's section is fine if you don't become a curvy short teenager/adult. Trying to find sensible shirts (not blouses) and a good jacket for DD, we cast many an envious look at the racks of exactly the sort of things she wanted in the men's depts.
