Yet another sick man.

However I propose this thread has a different focus where we post examples of brave women in the news and elsewhere standing up to wrongdoers.

I always admire people who do the right thing, even when partners, family members are involved. Like the mother who stopped her wannabe terrorist son going on a knife rampage by phoning the police last year.

Pratchet · 21/06/2018 11:53

Fabulous woman.

Typeractive · 21/06/2018 12:41

Great woman. She acted so decisively.

But she has two kids with this creep? Hope he doesn't cause her more grief.

peachescariad · 21/06/2018 12:53

What a great woman.....what a despicable excuse of a man...
Hoping there are many, many more like her out there....because we sure as hell know there are too many sick men out there.

Masih Alinejad is also heroine of the day

Mollie Clarke is fabulous.

enoughisenoughtoday · 22/06/2018 21:50

Mollie Clarke is a brave young woman to put the needs and safety of others before her own needs. Well done her!

LassWiADelicateAir · 22/06/2018 22:03

Trish Budge's stunt is not heroic and bears no comparison to what Mollie Clarke did.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/06/2018 23:42

Well done Mollie. Especially as it sounds like he was a coercive control type ('Richard continually reminded me that no-one would want me now, and that I was stuck with him.' Ugh)

But don't you wish they'd used the neutral word 'reports' rather than 'shops' - definition:

'inform on (someone).
"she shopped her husband to bosses for taking tools home"
synonyms:
inform on/against, betray, sell out, tell tales on, be disloyal to, be unfaithful to, break one's promise to, break faith with, stab in the back;'

The overall tone of the piece is positive but the headline and start give an unjustified sour note.

LassWiADelicateAir · 22/06/2018 23:47

I think "shops" would draw readers in. I'm not sure the targeted audience would necessarily see it as having negative connotations.

LassWiADelicateAir · 22/06/2018 23:50

I see that The Mail, The Sun and The Metro ran this story. It doesn't seem to have made the posh papers.

Norther · 23/06/2018 01:00

It's after midnight so heroine of the day has to be T##fy McT##fFace you beautiful woman whoever you are.

Pratchet · 23/06/2018 01:05

Why would you use the perjorative word 'stunt'?

BettyFloop · 23/06/2018 02:35

Yep. T##fy McT##fFace is my heroine of the day too. What a Star

LassWiADelicateAir · 23/06/2018 05:02

Because thar is what I think it is. I think the whole Man Friday thing is.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 23/06/2018 05:23

Some good news and done bad news - good news is she's brave and well done her for acting so decisively, she's done the right thing.

Bad news is finding that doing the right thing doesn't always get rewarded - especially where women and children are concerned.

Unfortunately his crimes haven't been taken seriously enough - he's back on the streets and will no probably make her life hell, using the kids, as revenge for many years to come.

she will find what many do, her kids and her get little protection or help from these guys who need be locked up offshore somewhere - his recent offending are gateway crimes to more serious sex offending.

She's just at the beginning of her journey of discovering how women are fucked over by the so called welfare and justice systems, as are his victims.

He's just at the beginning of making life unbearable for many women and children.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 23/06/2018 05:28

I think many women are heroines each day just staying alive and trying to fend for themselves and their children in a very very hostile and judgemental world.

2blueshoes · 23/06/2018 05:39

Yes, she's a worthy recipient. She kept the phone and went straight to the police. Fab. I agree that his sentence is too lenient, just a joke.

Pratchet · 23/06/2018 06:09

Because thar is what I think it is. I think the whole Man Friday thing is

I thought you were against self ID?

AngryAttackKittens · 23/06/2018 06:37

She's wonderful. Her ex should be in jail.

Norther · 24/06/2018 16:13

My heroine of the day is a group one: the saudi women who fought for the right to drive and those who have had the courage to get behind the wheel today.

Mrs Rynerson, the media don't seem to think you deserve a first name but I think you are totally badass and award you a gong for heroine of the day. We salute you!
