I am a woman.

I was a girl.

I am an adult human female.

Something a man can never be.

I am a woman.

People refer to me has her and she.

Sometimes said with deep contempt and misogyny.

I am a woman.

Something a male will never be.

I have a vagina and uterus.

I menstruate and have given birth.

I am a mother.

Something a male will never be.

I have been insulted, assaulted, belittled, dismissed, held back, intimidated, stereotyped, terrorised, mocked, shamed, humiliated because I am a woman.

Something a male can never be.

I feel insulted, appropriated, offended, anxious, tense, depressed, hurt and under siege, when a male claims to be a woman or anyone says a male can be female.

It is not civil or respectful to treat me this way.

I am a woman.

I am Spartacus.

I am Spartacus

I respect people's rights to have an opinion

I do not respect people's rights to have their own facts

I do not respect others rights to force their own made up facts on others

TerfsUp · 18/06/2018 10:42

Sea gulls, on the other hand... Are just annoying.

madja · 18/06/2018 10:42

We really can't have ANY space to talk about women's issues can we. Nope.

On another note, I made rhubarb crumble yesterday. With oat topping Shock

Pratchet · 18/06/2018 10:42

How is sex class determined? By reproductive role, see previous posts by multiple posters lol

TerfsUp · 18/06/2018 10:43

CertainHalfDeserted - that is one of my favourite poems. I love The Wasteland.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/06/2018 10:43

Antonyms can be become synonyms if you don't give a shit about the original meaning.

And GhosTess - FFS you've had polite explanations of the MN etiquette re @ - please don't do it unless you think you really need to send someone an email notification. You're either short on comprehension, or you are being goady, or you're very self-important.

TerfsUp · 18/06/2018 10:43

On another note, I made rhubarb crumble yesterday. With oat topping

That sounds delicious. Rhubarb crumble is criminally under-rated.

Ereshkigal · 18/06/2018 10:43

Thank you GhostTess. Much appreciated.

NotBadConsidering · 18/06/2018 10:44

Sea Lions always seem to have much bushier whiskers, but I can't imagine that's an official thing. If it's just the ears, I wonder why that meant it would be called a "sea lion" rather than a "flapped-eared seal"? Confused

TerfsUp · 18/06/2018 10:44

You're either short on comprehension, or you are being goady, or you're very self-important.

There's no reason it can't be all three. In fact, I think that's the most logical explanation.

TerfsUp · 18/06/2018 10:45

Sea lions also "bark". Plus, they have larger flippers and can walk on land while seals wriggle.

Ereshkigal · 18/06/2018 10:46

There's no reason it can't be all three. In fact, I think that's the most logical explanation.

I predict you're about to get a c n p from the Big Book of Logic.

GhostTess · 18/06/2018 10:48

Hi Pratchett.

So the definition is circular? As in... Your logical fallacy is cicular reasoning! My favorite to see because it so obviously wrong to everyone.

trulyfallacious.com/logic/logical-fallacies/presumption/circular-reasoning

ErrolTheDragon · 18/06/2018 10:49

Sea lions have flippers which function better for locomotion on land, but their flippers are also important for temperature regulation in the Californian species, who have to be able to deal with warm beaches as well as cold seas.

Ereshkigal · 18/06/2018 10:50

your logical fallacy is circular reasoning

It's all getting a bit Alanis, doncha think?

Picassospaintbrush · 18/06/2018 10:51

Desperado.

NotBadConsidering · 18/06/2018 10:52

Sea lions also "bark"

Yes! I've just read this! This is a really important fact to me because it's well known in paediatric circles that the classic feature of croup in young children is a "cough that sounds like a barking seal". I will now smugly correct everyone to sea lion. Or possibly fur seal. But NOT a true seal.

Scientific classification is great isn't it?

ErrolTheDragon · 18/06/2018 10:54

Nothing circular about Pratchetts logic.

It's hard to retaliate and point out the logical fallacies in the 'transwomen are women' dogma because there's no discernible logic at all. Just an unverifiable assertion.

Ereshkigal · 18/06/2018 10:54

Ok Ghost. Please define "woman" without employing the Logical Fallacy of circular reasoning.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 18/06/2018 10:54

TerfsUp - I had forgotten about 'tedious argument Of insidious intent.' Grin

I feel a n/c coming on!

Ereshkigal · 18/06/2018 10:55

I like toasted and ground almonds in my crumble topping. I'm not convinced by the oats.

Pratchet · 18/06/2018 10:57

Ghost: why is it circular?
Sex is defined by reproductive role.

Reproductive role is observable material reality described by the biological and chemical sciences.

Where is the circularity?

Floisme · 18/06/2018 10:57

If sea lions bark and also, I believe have pups, does that mean they're really trans dogs? And should that be one word or two?

terryleather · 18/06/2018 10:57

*A Weetabix Horror is an Adult Human Breakfast. And if anybody disagrees, I will start copy pasting irrelevant logical fallacies to prove them wrong. And if that doesn't work, I will throw a Weetabix-flavoured Narcissistic Rage.

BE. WARNED.*

GhostTess · 18/06/2018 10:58

Errolthedragon,

By that same logic it is impossible to exclude us since 'Woman' has been so impossible for you to define.
