Correct, the conversation was about definitions and having definitions changed. I cited time dilation and ftl travel. So, at close to light speeds time travels differently. A child but definition is someone who hasn't had puberty yet or hasn't reached the age of majority.

In such a case as time dilation one might reach the age of majority but not puberty. As such they would need to change the definition of child to protect these children.

I did not mean anything of a sexual nature, the conversation was of simply definitions. And the example of child and adult was used by the person I was responding to (it's not my first choice of example)

My female socialisation and my becoming a mother to three children has shaped my life.

The chronic illness which affects women at a ratio of 8 to every one man, and the subsequent shitty treatment that I’ve been told to suck up on the NHS are mine to bear because of my female biology.

The sexual and physical abuse at the hands of my ex boyfriend were meted out to me because of my smaller physical size, my female sexual organs and the entitlement this man felt he had over my female body.

We are all Spartacus because we won’t stand by and say nothing while our fellow women are punished and silenced by MNHQ for doing nothing more than standing up against an onslaught of hostile misogynists who seek to expand the very definition of ‘woman’ until it is meaningless. Thus erasing the language we are allowed to use to describe ourselves.

MN has always been a female dominated space and as such it is like nowhere else on the internet. Being able to speak freely among other women has been a joy for the past however-many years and has helped many women give words to situations they may not otherwise have been able to name.

How often do we hear the words “emotional abuse” (I had no idea what that was before MN) “toxic relationship” ditto “the only acceptable level of abuse is none” “that doesn’t work for me” “there’s a word for what he did. It is rape” etc.

These simple stock words and phrases have empowered women to stand up against bullies and abusers over the years. MN has helped women leave awful and dangerous situations, it has literally been a lifeline - by sharing with each other the language we now take for granted we have been able to give a voice to vulnerable women. And now here we are, having our language policed like some dystopian novel.
