Not trying to derail, but the root of the Huntley story seems all smoke and mirrors to me, and I do wonder who is responsible for it. And why.
As far as I can see, the story of him wishing to transition originated in the Daily Star Sunday back in early 2017, but it was all 'reportedly' and 'according to sources' - no actual verifiable facts. It was picked up by other papers - The Sun, The Daily Express, Mirror, even The Telegraph - but all just quoting each other, 'as reported in The Sun', etc. No verifiable FACTS reported by any of them.
Then the Daily Star reanimates the story this April, and he doesn't want to be called Lian he wants to be called Nicola. This is incendiary, given that Nicola is the name of Holly's mother. And again, no EVIDENCE that this is actually happening, just anonymous sources.
So, is this just a case of a red-top rag creating clickbait, and the other papers cashing in too with their 'as reported' me-too versions? Or is there anything to it? No newspapers have actually investigated it, as far as I can see. Is that the won't-run-negative-trans-stories-for-fear-of-TRA-attention (though they clearly think they can get away with as-reported-in-the Sun/Star), or is it because they know it's just clickbait crap? I can't tell. There is also the possibility that the whole story has been manufactured to point out just how bad the idea of SelfID is, but that's a conspiracy theory too far for me!
And now the twist of the 'can't deadname Ian Huntley' on Twitter. The source for that is the screenshot earlier in the thread, where xyr2000 reported Spygirl. There's now a helluva lot of tweets deadnaming and correctlygendering
Mr Huntley, so if Twitter are going to act on them, they've got a long night ahead of them. Again, I don't know if Twitter is acting on this, it's possible Spygirl's was an isolated incident. xyr2000 is now nowhere to be seen, the account appears to have been deleted.
The real story, for me, is how political wannabes are behaving over the (frankly hypothetical) transitioning of Huntley. The automatic side-taking, the unquestioning acceptance of the scenario, the willingness to support a paedophile murderer access a women's prison.
In particular, one Alisdair Calder McGregor, who sits on
the Federal Policy Committee. Their remit is - "The Federal Policy Committee is responsible for researching and developing policy and overseeing the Federal Party’s policy-making process. This includes producing policy papers for debate at conference, and drawing up (in consultation with the parliamentary party) the Federal election manifestos for Westminster and European elections." So he has a hand in developing policy for the LibDems. And he considers anyone deadnaming Huntley to be a 'transphobic arse' (see the photo I've attached).
So, in short, if this is the type of person guiding policy for the LibDems, I really don't think I can trust that party.
