Sickening. Lesbian is beaten up by non binary women (female) at LGBT bar in St Louis and her attackers brag about it online.

Not Arielle Scarcella herself, just realised that's not clear.

She identified the attackers. Hope they're arrested and charged. They don't seem to have any concept of having done anything wrong. Must really live in a bubble.

Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 16:04

That's what I find so scary. You can't just go around beating up people for disagreeing with you and being surprised when people criticise you and report it.

The woman who was attacked describes what happened:
evillfemme.tumblr.com/post/174416411740/likelyankle-evillfemme-i-was-attacked

last night I went to a drag show at a gay bar I used to frequent, and a group of q*eers who’ve deemed me a terf (because I called one of them a female over a year ago) was there… one of them, a transguy, came and sat next to me and asked me why I was there and told me I wasn’t welcome, and my smart ass said, “Why because I know you’re a female?” or something similar… I was then approached by the show host (who happens to be dating the transguy) and asked to leave, and I explained to her that I had done nothing wrong and would leave if Terry, the bartender, asked me to leave… I pretty much followed her to the bar, she told Terry I was misgendering people in a safe space (safe for who??? not gay people), he said “I’m not dealing with this lesbian shit—you need to leave,” and I immediately headed for the door… I walked out the door into the fists of 2-3 (not totally clear who was hitting me—I was heavily intoxicated)(one nb-identifying woman, her girlfriend, and the aforementioned transman) women who hit me over and over again in the face and pushed me onto the ground… after a few minutes, someone else grabbed me by the arms and walked me backward and let me go, and I trotted half a block away and waited for my stepmom and aunt to come find me

UpstartCrow · 31/05/2018 16:38

If this had taken place in the UK, it would have been a hate crime committed by trans people against a lesbian.

Is this the same one? We will see more of this while 'fuck up a TERFs' and 'TERFs are Nazis and deserve a punch' is the rhetoric of some TRAs, and they believe that hitting women is a valid response to someone disagreeing with them.

Words = literal violence justifies actual violence in their mind.

Sarahconnor1 · 31/05/2018 16:44

UpstartCrow in the current climate I'm not sure it would. Any noticed the lack of coverage of Magdalens attack in the LGBT media?

Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 16:49

Yes, same one. And I agree that the idea that "literal violence" justifies actual violence is prevalent in some TRA circles.

And as we know from the example of Maria Mclachlan at Speakers Corner and the victim blaming and justification which followed, supported by many transactivists, allies and trans advocacy groups here in the U.K..

Shocking. We really need to be aware of these things, Twitter can give away the identify of these thugs.

Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 16:55

They didn't trouble to make themselves anonymous and their boasting has been screenshotted and presumably will be given to police etc.

If I've understood correctly, the bartender (he) said “I’m not dealing with this lesbian shit—you need to leave,” -- which sounds to me like him referring to the female dating a transguy, the victim, and the others females present as lesbians (i.e. females in a gay bar equates to lesbian). Hence horribly misgendering and misWTFing the female host dating a transguy (who obviously wants to be considered a straight queer woman), the transguy concerned, and probably numerous bystanders etc. Yet no one seems to give a fig about that, but instead focuses on the lesbian concerned once they get her outside.

OR:

The bartender calling her a 'lesbian shit' for misgendering random idiots in what used to be a gay bar (and is now obviously a queer non-binary genderfluid trans bar, just not a plain ole ordinary cisgay or cislesbian bar anymore).........................

Ereshkigal · 31/05/2018 17:07

Or did he mean "I'm a misogynist who thinks lesbian issues can be dismissed as just lesbian shit, whatever, fuck off". That's how I read it but may have got it wrong!

OP posts:
Sarahconnor1 · 31/05/2018 17:31

Ereshkigal I read it the same as you,

Opheliah · 31/05/2018 17:59

Why does everyone say 'Terfs' are violent and inciting violence against trans people when it can only ever be proven that it's the other way round!

Opheliah · 31/05/2018 18:01
  • not calling anyone a terf here sorry. You know what I mean.
Sarahconnor1 · 31/05/2018 18:06

Opheliah it's hyperbole, an attempt to muddy the waters and silence debate. I have seen many requests for any examples of feminists being violent, I have yet to see any.

bd67th · 31/05/2018 18:25

I wonder how long the TIF will keep claiming to be a man if "he" is assigned to a men's prison?

thebewilderness · 31/05/2018 23:26

Or did he mean "I'm a misogynist who thinks lesbian issues can be dismissed as just lesbian shit, whatever, fuck off". That's how I read it but may have got it wrong!

That is how I understood it too.

We are all conditioned to misogyny from our earliest days.
Some never recover from that conditioning while others are killed because of it.

Sarahconnor1 · 01/06/2018 09:31

Well that was quick. Looks like one of the attackers had been sacked.

Italiangreyhound · 01/06/2018 09:41

Common sense. Looks like you can't violently attack someone and have no consequences after all.

TerfsUp · 01/06/2018 11:09

Good to hear that one of the attackers has been sacked. I hope all of the attackers face criminal charges.

detectivepuzzled · 01/06/2018 15:02

is it definitely one of the attackers? It isn't the victim?

Ereshkigal · 01/06/2018 17:09

I'm pretty sure it is one of the attackers. The woman called Natalie. She worked in PR for some sort of insurance sales company I think.

OP posts:
Sarahconnor1 · 01/06/2018 17:11

Yep one of the attackers mobile.twitter.com/NewAmericanTeam/status/1002263628647550976
