I am still making my mind up. Finished the book last night.

So far it appears to me that he is too certain that he has all the answers. He is certainly arrogant. But much of his advice to take responsibility for yourself and to seek meaning in life is helpful to a lot of people who are aimless and miserable.

On women though....I think he would do well to really listen to some and try to learn something.

Funny that. I read one (only one mind) of the papers on differences between the sexes related to how egalitarian the country they lived in was. What struck me was that both sexes did better under egalitarian than non-egalitarian systems, but that men benefited more, hence the wider difference between men and women.

Could it be he only highlights the findings useful to his world view?

I use whatever pronoun that goes along with whatever persona they're projecting publicly. Objects to zie and zer, it's narcissism.

Liberalism and conservatism can be explained through psychometric testing.

Conservatives are orderly and conscientious but not creative. Good at managerial and admin domains. Need hierarchy.

Liberals are higher in trait openness and creativity the advantage is you're more adaptive when things are changing rapidly.

Yes one could be forgiven for thinking threads like this are a setup. Because there's little room for feminist perspectives but a lotta room made for male ones.

Lastly, surely one of the great things about MN is that we all, of whatever opnion, can go on as long as we like, and do. How can you realistically thing there's more space for some posters? It's impossible

Given Peterson's appeal to men, I think it's really useful to have some male input. It gives some insight into what it is that appeals.
