Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

San Francisco Library, promoting VAW in the name of 'trans culture'.

Read the introduction to the 'exhibit' here:
sfpl.org/index.php?pg=1032262901

'Trans culture' seems to consist of - axes painted up in the trans flag colours. As well as baseball bats painted in other colours, presumably to 'include' all the genderqueers etc. It includes a (symbolic?) blood-soaked T-shirt with the slogan "I punch TERFs". Not to forget a plaque on the wall with "Die Cis Scum".

Which side of this 'debate' promotes violence against the other, continually? Which side of this 'debate' continually calls for injury and death towards the other? Which side continually claims to be 'the victim' (in classic DARVO style)?

I seriously cannot understand why some people are blinded to what is happening, how one side of this conducts itself, and calls for the death/injury of those who disagree with them. And no, not just a 'small element' of 'activists' - this is now enshrined in an exhibition at a public library! It has been officially sanctioned that this behaviour is legitimate and beyond reproach.

So shocking to see presumably intelligent people advocating and promoting such sick violence against women. In a Library of all places.

As Germaine Greer said in the Female Eunuch back in the 70s - Women have very little idea of how much men hate them

busyboysmum · 29/04/2018 21:13

Horrifying but also useful in the peak trans area.

lightthedarkness · 29/04/2018 21:46

Yup - very useful for all the 'this never happens' derails.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 29/04/2018 23:00

That’s fucking outrageous! But it’s only violence against women and thus unimportant

to be fair, there is a warning notice:

"Note: This exhibit contains strong language, blood and mentions of transmisogyny and police violence. Due to concerns raised by library patrons, we have altered the exhibit to remove a piece of artwork that could be interpreted to promote violence, which is incompatible with our exhibitions policy."

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 30/04/2018 18:22

and yes I am being ironic.

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 30/04/2018 18:23

2100 signatures.

That warning notice is quite something isn't it?

changeypants · 30/04/2018 19:24

Transmisogyny means misogyny by trans activists right?

TerfAndSerf · 30/04/2018 19:36

Signed

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 30/04/2018 20:08

changeypants,

it means misogyny against trans women I believe

[waits for confirmation]

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 30/04/2018 20:10

so (unless I am wrong) it means that the term misogny has now been appropriated to mean, not violence against women, but "violence" by women (i.e. non-violence) against trans women.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 20:37

Transmisogyny means misogyny by trans activists right?

It should do.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 20:38

But yes you are right on both counts, Thanks.

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 30/04/2018 20:57

Fuck that’s depressing.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 20:58

Isn't it.

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 30/04/2018 20:58

I feel a thread about an alternative warning notice coming on......

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 21:03

It's a handy way of dismissing actual misogynistic violence against women and girls as the same as women's opinions about their rights and beliefs that you can't change sex.

LaSqrrl · 01/05/2018 06:17

'Transmisogyny' is a term that has been around for quite a while. It's like regular misogyny, but so-much-worse because males suffer from it. 11th rule of misogyny: whatever women suffer from, it is worse when it happens to men.

The bottom line though, is IF they pass (as in get mistaken for a female), then what they actually experience is bog-standard boring old misogyny. IF they don't pass, it is homophobia - which does not sit right with most of them, being heterosexual males (they are used to being on the other side of that equation).

But frankly, there is far more evidence that 'trans misogyny' is the misogyny directed at females by trans. Even though it is supposed to not mean that. The situation is pure reversal actually. DARVO

The rest of the exhibition also promotes violence. Why aren't they altering that?

Why are they deleting Facebook comments pointing that out?

Agree. Everything is a reversal.

Just reviving this as a member of the artists' group behind the exhibition, the Degenderettes, has done something I find extremely disturbing. This tweet explains it and has images attached. I should warn you they're grim. The artist is collecting blood from women (not clear if it's menstrual blood or ordinary blood) and is using it to simulate freebleeding and then photographing himself doing it. WTF?

JoanSummers · 13/05/2018 11:32

That is grim, along the same lines as the "tampons in my butt" and "stealing used sanitary towels" fetishes - 'Not All Trans Are Pervs' but all of this is accepted under the trans 'umbrella'..

So much so kind female youtubers are conned by males with fetishes who describe themselves as trans into making videos on how to create fake menstrual blood they can wear in their pants.

Seriously.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/05/2018 11:34

Eurgh.
