Dear MNHQ

I'm very grateful for the commitment to free speech you've publicly taken, and for Justine's courage this week.

A former disgruntled employee of MN is writing on Twitter about the 'transphobia' of MN staff, and calling you TERFs. She is showing a great deal of bias and intolerance towards women with feminist views, this may well be her honest opinion, which is no big deal I suppose, since she is no longer an employee.

At least, it isn't an issue until she calls a shout out to her
'friends who still work at MN' to report and take down posts by 'transphobic scum', by which she appears to be referring to any poster objecting to being called TERF by her friend.

Regardless of the personal views of the MNHQ staff, who should be as free to hold their own views as I am mine, I am disturbed that there may be a small contingent of employees who are invested in unfair moderation and will not be applying fair-handed principles, at least if the claims of this ex-employee are credible.

Can you please give posters some reassurance that the difficult job of fair-handed moderation isn't being abused by the 'friends' of ex-employees who are 'reporting it all' and taking down posts because any gender criticism means the poster is 'transphobic scum'?

Thank you.

There is nothing wrong with gender critical views. An organisation cannot sack people or treat them negatively for holding that view.

@terryfolds

I've just gone to see what kind of vile comment a mumsnetter put on Emma Healy's video. Who says that was a mumsnetter? You plucked that out of thin air. Also, what was said in the comment was completely accurate - she has leaked personal information on the internet. How is it vile to say she did it, but evidently not vile to actually do the thing?

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 18/04/2018 23:25

TRAs are such a bunch of clueless goons.

They don't realise that data theft, threats, harassment, beating 60 yr old women, abusing privacy laws, suppressing freedom of speech and freedom of assembly, pissing off mum's, being hostile then playing the victim are not a good look.

They are so out of touch with reality. Utter dim-witted goons.

C8H10N4O2 · 18/04/2018 23:26

Obviously this is a very, very emotional topic, but some of the responses here are disgusting.

Nice way to trivialise the intentional and malicious theft of private data and subsequent breaching of that data.

Yes us girlies, all so emotional, must be the hormones or something.

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 18/04/2018 23:27

terry

So how do you know she is a mumsnetter then?

Winewinewinegin · 18/04/2018 23:28

Baby free speech is under threat on this issue but it certainly hasn't disappeared. Lots of people are speaking up and raising awareness on and off line. The issues raised here are now being discussed by at least 10,000 people who have signed the petition and they are all telling other people about it.

IamXXHearMeRoar · 18/04/2018 23:29

excellent manfriday blog

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 18/04/2018 23:31

MNHQ sorry but your response is not good enough.

It seems that EH has broken the law. Let the law deal with her. She allegedly took personal data in what looks like a premeditated, planned operation to, IMO, intimidate and harass women and damage MN.

How can you let this happen? Why are you protecting this person?

You are sadly wrong winewine

Really? In what way? What is it that is wrong with holding a gender critical view?

RedToothBrush · 18/04/2018 23:32

They are so out of touch with reality. Utter dim-witted goons

They got this far. Facts don't matter. This is the opinion of psy ops level political campaign managers. Don't dismiss them. Look at the US and Canada. Dimwits? That would be internet savvy and well connected dimwits who are much less likely to have dependants.

AskBasil · 18/04/2018 23:33

Oh and if she did join MN with the aim of getting her hands on people's personal data, I wonder if she's been passing it on all the time she's been there.

How do we know that this unethical young woman has only got this little bit of data we know about?

The police should be called in to investigate. It's the only way we are going to know the extent of this data breach.

I don't know why MN are fannying about tbh, it's got to be properly investigated.

Thanks, YesItsADebate - an excellent blog. Sums it up and worth reading.

MrsWooster · 18/04/2018 23:36

wine I think she meant your wrong about there being work consequences for holding gc views...
ManFriday blog is indeed fabulous.

BarrackerBarmer · 18/04/2018 23:37

I agree with what you say RedToothBrush

But I think they may have underestimated British women, and I think we've benefited from observing the disastrous changes in US and Canada.

We vote and we buy and we've worked out what's been happening in time for us to wield those two rather persuasive tools effectively.
This is far from over.

Dimwits? That would be internet savvy and well connected dimwits who are much less likely to have dependants.

Well there is something pretty dense about them - they might be fuelled by seething misogyny and resentment which sharpens their minds for battle - but there is definitely something missing.

boatyardblues · 18/04/2018 23:38

Empathy?
