Rude messages from Labour representative re: GRC

CryptoFascist · 10/04/2018 07:41

I recently received a phone call enquiring why I cancelled my membership. I stated it was due to issues I have with the party's policy on the GRA and was told I'd be provided with an email address to address my local representative about my concerns. I received no such email so messaged my local Labour party page to request it. Here is the exchange:

Good grief they don’t seem to have any idea about respectful or effective communication do they?

Bulldoze, bulldoze, you’re a bigot, just get a quick jab in, fuck off.

If a member of my team was communicating inside or outside the organisation like that it’d be taken very seriously.

madeyemoodysmum · 10/04/2018 07:49

Lol. Idiots

CryptoFascist · 10/04/2018 07:51

I feel so welcome and listened to, as a woman. Who dares me to claim to be a transwoman and see if the attitude changes?

AngstySpanksey · 10/04/2018 07:54

Send a formal complaint to the Labour complaints team. This is no way to run a local branch.

Hypermice · 10/04/2018 07:58

Seriously if someone in our company spoke likevthat to a client they would be out.

Terrible communication style and implies a lack of self restraint and poor impulse control.

CryptoFascist · 10/04/2018 08:00

I will be sending a formal complaint to my local MP and the complaints team, thanks for the suggestion. That's no way to win votes!

Even an intern would get a bollocking for talking to people like this using a corporate account.

midgebabe · 10/04/2018 08:09

And do I detect that coming from a marginal seat?

Juells · 10/04/2018 08:13

I'll admit I just skimmed it but none of it seemed rude to me, apart from the 'consult a dictionary' comment. Seemed more like an agreed cut-and-paste job.

CryptoFascist · 10/04/2018 08:30

I think that's what I find rude though Juells. A cut and paste job and when I queried the details, a rude non response. Just think it's not a professional way to address the electorate.

Their position is completely incoherent. Healthy debate is fine but no-one is to say anything that might be deemed transphobic (we can't define transphobia however). We want to welcome TIMs onto AWS with as little bother as possible but we might ask to see their grc (isn't this illegal?)

Confused
Ereshkigal · 10/04/2018 08:42

I don't think they really understand what the issue is.

0phelia · 10/04/2018 09:09

Maybe join the women's forum?

LittleLebowski · 10/04/2018 09:47

It's the same dismissive, borderline outright rude attitude exhibited on the LibDem Twitter. "Consult a dictionary"! Way to put your views across and win over potential voters! If they support self-ID then defend your position. Articulate it clearly. Know the different aspects, engage properly and respectfully. If you consider something transphobic, then say why it is. I won't vote for any party that thinks this is the way to deal with people.

Popchyk · 10/04/2018 10:55

Their response is really confused.

They welcome people who self-ID as women onto AWS but they may request a GRC.

Eh? Was that a copy and paste failure on their part?

BlackeyedSusan · 10/04/2018 11:39

Did not seem massively rude to me until they got to the consult a dictionary.

It did seem like they were saying one thing... Welcome debate, but warning of transphobia made the assumption that you were going to be transphobia.

MsMcWoodle · 10/04/2018 11:42

Maybe they should consult a dictionary re the word 'woman'.

BlooperReel · 10/04/2018 11:42

If an employee told a client to refer to a dictionary when asking for clarification on a word or phrase used in our communication with them, they would likely be sacked for gross misconduct, given that it would likely lead to loss of client business or severely damage the client relationship. Disgraceful.

Juells · 10/04/2018 11:44

They obviously don't care about losing women voters. Virtue-signalling is much more important.

CharlieParley · 10/04/2018 11:49

I've seen people sacked for less. But that's Labour for you (jaded, sorry)

Self-id accepted but ask for GRC????

Asking for GRC = illegal
Expecting self-id to have a GRC = idiotic

Well done for trying though CryptoFascist

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/04/2018 11:52

Tell them that if you don't get action you'll pass on the messages to the Daily Fail.

anneoneill · 10/04/2018 19:22

have I misread the message? Where did they call anyone a bigot in that exchange, @Hypermice?

Hypermice · 10/04/2018 19:40

The assumption of transphobia. Here’s our cut and paste statement - with a warning about transphobia. Typical shutdown of debate - imply the other side is whateverist and you don’t even have to have even the laziest of arguments.

anneoneill · 10/04/2018 19:44

I'll repeat, where was OP called a bigot or told to fuck off?
