Because then black people would then be able to self ID as white meaning all these privileged white men would lose their privilege.

Plus being able to reduce black women to some kind of sub human species in defence of women not wanting men in their spaces would no longer be effective as these women would just ID as white...

Why is it that people always identify as a person who is further down the pecking order than they are?

I would like to identify as a straight white guy to get maximum £££ but somehow that isn't allowed. We should all do that actually. The gender and race paygap would disappear overnight!

Makes sense that those behind selfID are behind it for their own dodgy reasons. He clearly thinks this is acceptable if the public accept selfID of sex.

Infact in many ways, self identification of race makes more sense than selfID of sex. There are only two sexes, there are many races, its possible to be mixed race, its not possible to be mixed sex..etc

There was a programme on Radio 4 a few weeks ago about students in Brazil identifying as black in order to benefit from racial quotas. But, yes, Vicky - the difference is that race is socially- rather than biologically-defined. Of course we pass things like skin and hair colour onto our kids, but whether this puts you in a different social category or not is completely arbitrary - dependent entirely upon social norms.

Just one thing, though, and I hate to quibble - it irks me when people say "this is just.. I have no words" - because that's the sort of thing that people say when I start being gender critical - before they offer to beat me up - and it makes me think "No, you haven't, have you?" Whereas - if your point of view is justifiable, you do have the words! Let's use them, because otherwise the risk is it's just a stalemate in which two sides roll their eyes at one another.

The argument that I've come up against is that to become a transwoman you are putting yourself into a an oppressed category, doing so makes your life infinitely harder than it was before, there's no gain (other than escape from intolerable dysphoria I assume) whereas there are supposed benefits to identifying as another race, or rather it displaces the genuinely oppressed.

this isn't my opinion. Just the stage I've reached with others on this subject.

Funny that they seem to retain the notion that they get to tell women what to do Amore. Are you a woman? Do you wander about making demands of women as a group?

They don't see it that way (I am a woman - they are woman) the overwhelming consensus was that it was no skin off their noses, it comes at no cost to them whatsoever to allow transwomen (however the present) to be women and all that entails.

He also says he's Jewish yet said on Twitter that he prayed to Jesus to get him down safely from some fairground ride. Hopefully Jesus didn't hear him and he's still up there. But wouldn't it be fun if he wasn't really Jewish either?

Maybe he just pretends when he passes through Golders Green?
