Just seen who's on the panel tonight - two transactivists vs The Daily Mail. I hope it's not too much of a car crash, but I won't get my hopes up...

Jon66, glad you dropped by to gloat.

HomeTerf · 22/03/2018 23:40

It was always going to go that way, though. They're pandering to the audience. They don't want to challenge the youngsters with rigorous debate, they want to provide a platform for right-on, self-congratulatory posturing.

Fucking annoying though.

CoolCarrie · 22/03/2018 23:40

Fuck now he is making excuses for Putin, what an arse

Well that was a trans party political broadcast by the BBC for the BBC there now wasn't it!
I think we need to mass email them with the complaint of unfair bias towards one side of an debate
Where was the impartiality that we as the license payer are promised?
A disgraceful parade of ignorance by all parties

Loungingbutnotforlong · 22/03/2018 23:43

I don’t understand how shami (clearly an intelligent woman) can argue the merits and need for an all woman short list, but then still be happy that a man could self id his way onto that list - how would that meet the needs of the all woman list and better representation, and the fact that women are badly treated ‘throughout the planet’. I really don’t get the intellectual gymnastics she has had to go through

mummybear701 · 22/03/2018 23:43

A young man moaning AWS are 'not fair' on him. NO. Equal treatment does not mean the same treatment. AWS are to tackle under representation of women, thats the whole point dude.

Its always low achieving men that resent positive action for some reason.

OlennasWimple · 22/03/2018 23:45

Shami was the one who decided that there was no anti-semitism in the Labour Party, then got a peerage soon after... Hmm

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 22/03/2018 23:45

Half the panel use the TIMS to shit on AWS

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 22/03/2018 23:46

Well that was disappointing

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 22/03/2018 23:46

Scandalous nonsense.

lucydogz · 22/03/2018 23:46

yep

Bejazzled · 22/03/2018 23:47

Feminists (making the " " round feminists) are all bad

Not one mention of the effect of self I.d.

Transwomen are women and the emperors clothes are beautiful

Stewart Mc D is an utter prick, an op upthread said he refused to engage with her. - well I think we know why, he thinks we are scum.

InTheRoseGarden · 22/03/2018 23:48

Was that supposed to be a debate? There was nobody there to put the counter argument! Just a platform for Paris Lees to proselytise from.

It's ok though. All-women shortlists not required in this, our utopian world.

Lefthanddown · 22/03/2018 23:49

Interesting that now QT has moved on, they've all got varying opinions on the topic, yet re trans they were all of the same mind!

Anybody language experts on here - I'd be interested to know what Shami' lip movement signified just before she answered the Trans question.

HomeTerf · 22/03/2018 23:50

I suspect there was some sort of pre-agreement that Paris would be supported and celebrated rather than challenged in any way. It would be interesting to press the BBC on that question.

GretchenFranklin · 22/03/2018 23:52

What a disgrace. Not one person to challenge this fucking nonsense.

Trans women are men. Women's obstacles are only ever to do with our actual biology.

It’s interesting how large parts of our media seem inclined to treat the young as unstable maniacs who must at all costs be humoured and never challenged.
The young people growing up today do strike me as a rather rubbishy group of people and perhaps it’s because they have no experience of robust challenge.

Study 2 here covers the more recent Stonewall suicide figures which seem to be the popular ones to quote at the moment.

EleanorXx · 23/03/2018 00:02

Trans women are men
disgusting, outdated, bigoted view.

EleanorXx · 23/03/2018 00:03

Love Paris.

thebewilderness · 23/03/2018 00:04

8th rule of misogyny: Men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are.

Oh Eleanor, you missed out transphobic?
