I don’t understand how shami (clearly an intelligent woman) can argue the merits and need for an all woman short list, but then still be happy that a man could self id his way onto that list - how would that meet the needs of the all woman list and better representation, and the fact that women are badly treated ‘throughout the planet’. I suspect there was some sort of pre-agreement that Paris would be supported and celebrated rather than challenged in any way. It would be interesting to press the BBC on that question.

It’s interesting how large parts of our media seem inclined to treat the young as unstable maniacs who must at all costs be humoured and never challenged.
