Another prominent T claiming to be a little bit autistic

I know this is my sole topic of conversation but it’s so bloody important that biological women are not erased from the autistic spectrum by biological men claiming to be autistic. It’s hard enough to get diagnosed if you’re female without having diagnostic criteria appropriated and dictated by males. It took decades for the male brain aspect of autism to be binned.

A prolific twitter transperson is now claiming to be “a bit autistic”. The fact this person is an absolute walloper doesn’t really help and it’s entirely wrong to claim you’re a bit autistic - you either are or you aren’t. Just like sex you don’t get to pick and choose which bits of autism you get to experience. It forms your entire experience of the world. You cannot be a little bit autistic just like
You cannot be female with a penis.

I can’t talk about this on autistic twitter as so many have been brainwashed? Manipulated? I’m not sure what, but a certain contingent of trans & autistic advocates get very aggressive and persistent if you disagree with them and I can’t face the onslaught of trans and autistic hate that would ensue.

Just needed to rant about this.

Don't you think it's horrendous that distressed and traumatised women are lumped in with people like Lily and have the say treatment as narcissists, under the BPD label?

MissMoneyPlant · 24/03/2018 07:22

*same treatment

MissMoneyPlant · 24/03/2018 07:23

... and autistic women are often misdiagnosed BPD too.

AnachronisticCorpse · 24/03/2018 08:08

I would bet my bottom dollar on LM having BPD. I do, and Lily presents in exactly the way a lot of my therapy mates do. We almost all have co diagnoses of autism or bipolar.

MrsWooster · 24/03/2018 08:22

Another twitch of recognition to mogle and jessica ...

MissMoneyPlant · 24/03/2018 10:52

Could you elaborate anachronistic? I've found the BPD diagnosis to be inaccurate and means assumptions are made about me that aren't true, sort of hellish confirmation bias! And those ive known with the same diagnosis seem quite different. I'm hoping my recent ASD diagnosis finally makes them reassess. (As an example, they used to go on that I needed to learn to be alone, ignoring all the evidence that I was rather good at that!)

MissMoneyPlant · 24/03/2018 10:55

.... Meant to add, it really concerned me that ASD meltdowns might be interpreted as attention seeking and that sort of thing. A friend with ASD is going through this atm, in hospital. BPD should only be diagnosed if the symptoms can't be accounted for by another diagnosis; this is often ignored.

In general it concerns me that unpleasant specimens like Lily get lumped in with the abused but lovely people I've known.

MissMoneyPlant · 24/03/2018 10:58

really concerns* me

AreYouTerfEnough · 24/03/2018 12:08

I think that madigan fits the histrionic pd profile more than anything.

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 24/03/2018 12:11

Psychiatrists do not seem to arrive at ASD until after suggesting BPD or schizophrenia etc very worrying - it seems to be give a prescription rather than understand it may be a neurological developmental disorder which requires support and ongoing effort.

Have seen it with extended family members and it is clear it is autism. However, their parent was unwilling to accept this and ten years later the diagnosis is reassessed and reality handed back. Meltdowns can be scary and the people around them need to have the skills to cope.

Autism used to be called childhood schizophrenia - they'd grow out of it (mask it) as we know no one grows out of it - the masking is leaned behaviour rather than instinctive - leading to emotional ups and downs as life is practiced out loud eg. mistakes along the way/need for down time to process life - rather than just 'being'.

Flomper · 24/03/2018 12:33

LM never ceases to amaze me. The recent twitter spat about skirts is a great example. Somebody makes a comment about LM and skirts. LM is outraged, how dare you mis-lable me, thats hate speech etc and says "I've literally never worn a skirt. This from the individual who literally sued their school a few years ago to be allowed to wear the girls uniform. LM is eitjer extremely dumb or extremely unwell, or possibly both. Should not be in the position the labour party have put them in.

AnachronisticCorpse · 24/03/2018 12:43

I have now got a bipolar diagnosis after years of therapy for bpd. My experience of group is that most of not all of us have either bipolar or autism. Bpd is an easy diagnosis to get women to shut up ime.

That's interesting, anachronistic. I initially thought you were agreeing with the BPD diagnosis.

SporadicSpartacus · 24/03/2018 14:16

Interesting. When I had my diagnostic interview, I did a basic screen for personality disorders and apparently autistic people tend to score more highly in the Cluster A traits than B.
