Just saw this on the sun website.
Looks like harassment scared Millwall.

Just found this scrolling along my timeline.

After punching a pensioner, intimidating a notorious football club into not hosting a discussion and the violent intimidation of a union official we're bullies. Apparently.

Great that it is in Parliament. I hope those attending will make the MPs there very clearly aware that while it is great that they can have this debate in their workplace, there is no fucking way that normal nonMP members of the public can assemble equivalently freely to discuss this issue without fear of the physical attack of gender critical women, us being harassed, doxxes, complaints to employers etc.

(BTW Do we have a centralised log anywhere of all the evidenced cancelled events and venue changes and attacks on attendees and police being called to protect women simply trying to attend debates? Maybe we could do a thread on this and leave it up here as a collective record..)

I don’t feel able to question at my work why we have a trans-identifying man using the women’s toilets on just his say so. We weren’t asked or consulted about that.
I can’t talk about how I feel about that to my colleagues or HR dept because I am scared what could happen to me professionally if I did. I don’t feel I could attend a meeting in a public space on this issue because I would be worried about being filmed, recognised, hassled afterwards and what that could do to my job. I have done some political protest/activism before, so it’s not that but I feel the MRA silencing of dissent tactics are new and very sinister and intimidating.
I don’t think many MPs have the faintest idea of what has been going on. Great that that this will raise awareness.

OfficerGrant · 11/03/2018 20:25

Chatty that's a very good idea to keep a log of all the incidents. And police outcomes of the ones where they were involved.
Anyone know of one we can add to?

Wish I could go to the event. Have been to a few HoC things, I would feel pretty safe there. There's lots of police around, and lots you can't see too.

Argh, sold out!

Which is great, obviously, but not if you left it too late...

Look forward to updates on here.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 11/03/2018 22:55

@WishIHadMoreBallsThanMillwall - I just commented on their post that you linked & asked if they were a satire page as I thought that the link was hate-filled bile...

Apparently they don't like me, as my comments were removed & I've been blocked from further comments 😂😂

WishIHadMoreBallsThanMillwall · 11/03/2018 23:33

@FaithHopeCharityDesperation

Yeah. They're pretty nifty at blocking people. Confused

letsgetserious · 12/03/2018 03:16

How do people think the TRAs are likely to respond to this latest HoP information? Do you think they are likely to try to put any pressure on the venue at all?

mamaryllis · 12/03/2018 03:51

I think the HoC venue is freaking genius. But then I thought that about Millwall too. So my judgement is probably a bit off kilter. I’m heartened that the venue is smaller so last minute troublemakers won’t be able to buy tickets. But I don’t trust the TRA as far as I could throw them.

ICJump · 12/03/2018 05:17

I reported that resist hate page to Facebook.

Excellent that the meeting will be in HoC

Datun · 12/03/2018 08:49

I vacillate between thinking there will be a protest, and thinking there won't.

If they run true to form, they will protest and people at the HoC will finally realise what women have been up against.

But that would be an own goal, right?

On the other hand, own goals are their forte. I don't know if it's rank narcissism that prevents them from analysing their actions and the likely outcome, but their filters are non-existent.

I think it will kill them not to protest.

So it remains to be seen how much self restraint they actually have...

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 12/03/2018 09:02

Oh, I hope they protest. I want them to wave their placards about punching TERFs and chant about burning HoC down. All I've seen so far is tweets expressing their distress.

AngryAttackKittens · 12/03/2018 09:03

Imagine if they were to chant "burn it down" outside the HoC how quickly that might peak trans some MPs.

Datun · 12/03/2018 09:07

On the other hand, if they don't protest, it will be very, very marked.

There are loads of tweets about quite how much pressure Millwall came under.

It's not a secret.

So the absence of a protest will almost be just as telling.

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 12/03/2018 09:08

They did it at the Speakers Corner venue.

We were well enough insulated at the London Woman's Place event that I'm not sure what they were shouting.

hipsterfun · 12/03/2018 09:19

HoC is win-win, protest or no.

Efrig · 12/03/2018 10:13

After punching a pensioner, intimidating a notorious football club into not hosting a discussion and the violent intimidation of a union official we're bullies. Apparently.

It’s quite a common thing for an abuser to accuse the person they’re abusing of behaving in the way that they themselves are behaving. It’s mostly subconscious and the abuser is usually too thick to realise they’re actually doing it.

SweetGrapes · 12/03/2018 14:17

Have invited my MP to the meeting but unfortunately she isn't free that evening.

But she will be in the HoC that day till about 6 so hoping to see her anyway.

frazzled1 · 12/03/2018 14:40

LM tweeted HoC event: 'Disturbing' and a link to Pink News:

(Can't do clicky link for Twitter.....).

Oh dear...

BeUpStanding · 13/03/2018 09:02

C'mon - don't be petty about LM. We're better than that.

athingthateveryoneneeds · 13/03/2018 11:15

I saw on another thread that people are pushing other MPs to try to get the meeting cancelled in the HoC. Is this possible? I don't know how these rooms get booked etc.

And I agree with BeUpStanding.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 13/03/2018 11:24

Yes I know. I am better than that. I am. I am. I am.

PositivelyPERF · 13/03/2018 11:52

I’m not. 🤭🤫

LaundryLaundryMoreFingLaundry · 13/03/2018 13:40

It's definitely kicking off. Here's a Twitter thread about trying to get the meeting stopped.

Lots of bleating about violence committed by supportes of WPUK. It makes absolutely no sense that people are saying this. Really I think the only thing for it is for every MP to have a meeting with WPUK supporters who can go armed with the evidence of threats and intimidation coming from the TRAs. They need to know this is normal people with concerns not fucking terrorists, which is how the TRAs are presenting it!
