Issues with gender self ID in other countries

One of the arguments I keep hearing in favour of gender self ID id that in other countries where it has been introduced like Canada and Ireland there have been no problems with access to women’s safe spaces. Is this the case or is anyone aware of any instances of men accessing women’s spaces to abuse them?

the TRAs are relentless and even the GRA 2015 doesn't go far enough for them. They have hijacked everything women-related, even the Repeal the 8th (pro choice) movement, causing a really destructive schism in Irish feminism.

This is something that bears repeating. Many who can't see what is wrong with this movement don't realise: achieving self ID is not the end of the demands/process as far as the TRA lobby goes, it's just the start. Their manifestos are publically available to read.

kneedeep yes, read this. Basically they want to remove parental rights for children who want to transition

it seems like an easy way for political parties to signal that they are nice and progressive, but I can't understand they don't stop it think about the impact it will have on women

Because most trans people that politicians will have encountered will be nice Betty who transitioned thirty years ago, shops in the M&S Classics range and is a member of the WI (her lemon meringue pie recipe is wonderful).

Because the narrative of being "on the wrong side of history" is particularly potent for politicians, who tend to care very much about their legacy / how they will be remembered, not least because they rely on staying in step with public opinion otherwise they lose their seat (this is as true for local councilors as it is for MPs)

Because they have mentally aligned transgenderism with homosexuality and figure that the rights that gay people have now should be extended to trans people (without understanding the huge difference, and indeed homophobia inherent in the TRA agenda)

And that's without the big one, because they think about the impact on women but don't particularly care
