I know this is more party politics but FFS. SMH.

JJ says

Yesterday I had my suspension meeting with @uklabour. They asked me why I criticised Action For Trans Health (ATH) and called them an hate group. In a tweet where I'd screenshot the ATH posts about terfs needing a punch and 10,000 police officers needing to be murdered... 🤔

So... I'm being called in by the Labour party for criticism of a group THAT WANTS TO MURDER TEN THOUSAND MEN AND WOMEN POLICE OFFICERS. Working class people, serving the community. But I'm in the wrong? 😳

If this was the EDL or another far right group, they would be, rightly, condemned for calling for the Death of Thousands of Police Officers. But somehow having the word 'Trans' in the group's name makes it OK?

... Anyway... my point IS that I have made complaints via email about, idk, maybe 15 Labour members for being personally abusive towards me? Have not even had one acknowledgement from [email protected] yet.

What else was there... dicks wasn't mentioned at all... oh yes, I was asked about a joke tweet I sent to James Kirkup of the Spectator, saying he deserved more abuse than he got. It was intended to make him laugh. Now James Kirkup didn't complain about the tweet...

and Labour never contacted James Kirkup of The Spectator to ASK him if he was offended by the tweet. However someone Else was very offended On His Behalf (looking at you Secret Squirrels) and sent it in.

How did I know James Kirkup of The Spectator magazine never complained to @UKLabour? Well I asked him, didn't I. And James GOD LOVE HIM wrote me this. Which I read out in full to the investigating officers of The Party:

I'd tell Labour and Corbyn to shove it up their arse if I were you, Jennifer. Corbyn's more than happy for all this to go ahead and he's blatantly lied about wanting to talk to women on live TV. You're not a fool so don't be theirs.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 02/03/2018 14:43

This is grim, I am so glad I resigned the Labour Party last year.

51% of the population listened to by politicians over Brexit, 51% of the population ignored by politicians when it comes to women’s rights.

AngryAttackKittens · 02/03/2018 18:28

I wonder which other women Bromentum has on their purge list. Right now it's the trans issue they're using as an excuse to get women chucked out, but I'm getting the sense that they'd like to see all the uppity women out in general.

SmurfOrTerf · 02/03/2018 18:47

Yep Angry - its like they don't know we have the vote.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 03/03/2018 08:24

I am appalled at how an issue is adopted as law without debate, even when it negatively impacts on a vulnerable group. This is what will prevent me from voting labour, even if I put this issue aside, how can I trust them?

TheButterflyOfTheStorms · 03/03/2018 17:42

What is it with brocialist misogynists and beards?

As usual there are more beards than women involved in decision making.

JenniferJames · 03/03/2018 17:48

It's the movement I'm loyal to, not any individual or any organisation. The movement.

I can keep explaining it to you, but I can't understand it for you....

Boxesandbuttons · 03/03/2018 17:55

Jennifer why don't you start a new women-friendly movement? I think the Labour you are supporting is on track to erase women as a sex class. Why not establish a movement with all the same values but that recognises and protects women too?

KochabRising · 03/03/2018 19:03

Why not establish a movement with all the same values but that recognises and protects women too?

That would have my vote. Sensible, slightly left of centre politics, environmentally responsible business agenda, focus on R and D/manufacturing/tech rather than /as well as service industries, decent housing policy (no more right to buy, build more Social housing and plough the profits back into the sector. Focus on stopping the asset stripping and pocket lining at the expense of the public. Phase out tax credits in favour of living wages - no private company should be subbed by the taxpayer to pay shit wages.
Just be decent. Not rocket science. Capitalism is fine by me, it just needs checks and balances to ensure it works for people not against them.
I consider my politics quite centrist /sight left of centre. I don’t think I believe in any thing outré or extreme at all. And yet o can’t find a political party that speaks for me, neither can I find a source of news media that doesn’t make me want to burn it in disgust - Private Eye is the last bastion of decent journalism free of tat, ideology etc at the moment.

Do it!!

PlectrumElectrum · 15/03/2018 18:01

More head/desk bollocks from the Labour Party.

Call someone a deplorable cunt on social media - your employer will be unhappy you'll be lucky not to lose your job

The Labour Party, the main opposition party in U.K politics? Nothing to see here...

"...the matter described does not amount to behaviour that is grossly detrimental to the Labour Party and is therefore not a breach of Labour Party rules, so we will not be investigating those involved."

Poor Boxer - his hooves drumming on the side of the van as they drive him away. Once he would have been able to kick it to matchsticks but not now he has been so worn down by his labour for the good of all of the animals of Animal Farm Sad

I assume that in this version he gets melted down and turned into a vibrant pink lipstick that She Who Must Not Be Named buys with her Pay Pal bullion?

Wobbleslikeaweeble · 15/03/2018 19:08

I hope someone like Janice Turner runs with this accepted abuse of women in Labour.

BloodyFreezing · 15/03/2018 19:51

..the matter described does not amount to behaviour that is grossly detrimental to the Labour Party and is therefore not a breach of Labour Party rules, so we will not be investigating those involved

So are the rules just about whether something is detrimental to the Party's image, not whether it's wrong (e.g. abusive misogynistic conduct towards other party members)? Essentially, 'society doesn't give a crap about women getting misogynist abuse and we don't think we'll get any flak for this so we're not bothered either'?

Except I don't think it's even just that when I see the interrogations Venice Allen and Jennifer James got as I don't think their comments would have been seen as detrimental to the party in the eyes of most of the public - and some of the comments presented as 'evidence' were made in private anyway.. The difference is that they are (the biological sex of) women who have angered (the biological sex of) men.

TerfyMcTerface · 15/03/2018 20:53

Corbyn has just had an article published in the Guardian, warning against "a McCarthyite intolerance of dissent" in our response to Russia.

The fucking irony. The bare-faced cheek.

SmurfOrTerf · 15/03/2018 20:56

Terfy I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry at that

Elletorro · 15/03/2018 23:20

JenniferJames

I think you can sue them in the civil courts for breach of the Equality Act in failing to act against sexual harassment, sex discrimination. Their policy is indirectly discriminatory too. You already have a legal contact I’m guessing?

As per usual I am wondering if there is sense in asking the Equality and Human Rights Commission to step in. This is important because of the sexism women in politics face and Labour’s inactivity is condoning sexism. That’s massive.
