They just posted this. How bloody dare they? To me this reads as “hey you women who don’t agree with us? The divide is YOUR fault!”.

And enough of this ‘cis’ crap!!

Thoughts?

In America, suffragists tried to win favour with segregationists in the South by claiming that white women, if given the vote, would use it to uphold white supremacy.
Let's pretend that we don't know that most suffragettes in
the US were abolitionists, shall we?

thebewilderness · 23/02/2018 19:45

My question remains:
Can you mandate belief?
Can you codify into law the idea that some people can mind over matter themselves out of material reality and into the opposite sex, and must be treated accordingly?
It is like transubstantiation. A belief that no one actually believes.
Will you allow people to drug and mutilate children based on this belief that no one believes?
How will non believers be punished?

Turn the W upside down and they become the Misogynists Equality Party, and so they have.

Women Entertainers Party

Clearly we were mistaking the mission, this was another branch of celebrity culture, not politics. Catherine is of course performing with Grayson Perry next week and so has a vested interest in the issue, she is not impartial in this debate.

This really is the Metrosexual Equality Party.

Grayson Perry gets it though doesn't he?

I'd be surprised if he didn't...

Ereshkigal · 23/02/2018 22:20

VaguelyAware Thanks

VaguelyAware · 23/02/2018 22:52

I'm ok, Erishkigal, & DD is too. Flowers It was a bit touch & go for a few minutes, as she wasn't breathing due to the prolonged labour, although I didn't realise it as I was barely conscious but she's great now. Cheeky little madam most of the time too! Grin

Ereshkigal · 24/02/2018 00:30

Glad to hear it Grin

So much hope for a party to push forward a real actual women's agenda. Their policies and treatment of their own members are a disgrace

I'm surprised that Sandi Toksvig is part of this I was clearly labouring under the belief that she was intelligent and astute.

hipsterfun · 24/02/2018 18:54

Oh ffs, not Toksvig.

WEP has always been a vanity project for three white middle class media women funded by others duped into believing that it will benefit all women. It's time people saw it for what it is.

SW is shaping up like the Serena Joy of British politics.

UpABitLate · 24/02/2018 23:21

It's vital to listen to the experiences of all women but mainly the women with penises

Sandi thinks the L gets left out, great news, there are a new breed of L's in town who are much better than the old style ones. All the old style ones need to do is get over their bigoted aversion to cock and they too will reap the rewards of a new invigorated lgbT movement. Of course the ones who don't want dick are out.

WEP also believe prostitution is super empowering, I think. Woohoo to those Oxfam guys being so generous helping those Haitian women. Great guys.

Ouchbirthhurted · 25/02/2018 07:30

Are there transwomen who hold positions within the WEP? And/or who have in the past?

LizzieSiddal · 25/02/2018 08:44

This is all we need to know about this party

”The very first policy document made clear that WE supported “the right of all to define their sex or gender or to reject gendered divisions as they choose”.”

How the heck do you “choose your sex”????

Such a MASSIVE a waste of a chance to unite women and actually represent them properly.

WiggyPig · 25/02/2018 15:44

The very first policy document made clear that WE supported “the right of all to define their sex or gender or to reject gendered divisions as they choose”

"..... unless you actually reject gendered divisions in which case we will remove you from your post..."

There's no point rejecting gendered divisions on a personal level if you're not also free to reject them in the abstract.

UpstartCrow · 25/02/2018 15:48

WiggyPig That was the reason some women did not join, and we were roundly condemned for it at the time.
