Have applied for an audience ticket. Apparently Justine Greening is on the panel. Any ideas for phrasing a question on trans issues as topically as possible to maximise chance of it getting onto the show?

I can't frame the question concisely but the one thing that I want to see debated in front of the public is that all the rhetoric is about transsexuals but the concerns about the proposed legal changes largely relate to people without gender dysphoria.

Cuntysnark · 29/01/2018 11:10

Hats off to you. I got a ticket to Any Questions a short while ago & totally bottled putting my question on the slip. Still cross with myself.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 29/01/2018 11:11

'Given the current proposals to end sex based segregation by allowing anyone to change sex by filling in an online for - highlighted this week by sex offender Marie Deans hunger strike - can the panel answer the simple question - what is a woman?'

Needs editing I know. but I think the question bit should be 'what is a woman?'

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 29/01/2018 11:15

'Jeremy Corby said this week that transwomen are women, signalling his support for people to be allowed to change sex legally using a simple online form and therefore allowing people born as men access to women's sport, changing areas, refuges etc Can the panel therefore answer the simple question - what is a woman?'

nauticant · 29/01/2018 11:16

I was going to rephrase my question as "you know most of them still have cocks don't you?" but then I thought a decent question would be:

A woman has been suspended from the Labour Party for saying "women don't have dicks". Does the panel think that someone with a dick can correctly be referred to as a woman?

Obviously, this wouldn't be picked either.

Spinsterf · 29/01/2018 11:17

How about:
'Does the panel believe that males who have not undergone full gender reassignment surgery, and do not have a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria, should be able to self identify as women and gain legal access to female only spaces?'

OP posts:
Wollstonecraft1 · 29/01/2018 11:18

I would personally get this thread pulled, OP, and take it to PM. You don't want to pre-arm the panel who will have researchers combing everywhere for threads like this if they are sensible. Good luck!!!!

therealposieparker · 29/01/2018 11:18

How much mess will there be with so many parties throwing women under the bus? Do we have the right amount of ambulance and road clean up staff to cope?

Fuckers.

nauticant · 29/01/2018 11:23

It's the right question OP but would be incomprehensible to many of the audience and viewers. I'd imagine the panel would also struggle. Sorry, but it needs to be more clear to a layperson.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 29/01/2018 11:26

Ask about Gary/Marie.

Should someone like this have access to women's space? Because that's what self id will mean in practice.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 29/01/2018 11:26

*spaces

UpstartCrow · 29/01/2018 11:27

''How many women do the panel think is the acceptable number to be harmed by men who say they are women, before women are permitted women only spaces and services.''

Minerva1234 · 29/01/2018 11:29

Should someone born male, with a fully operational penis, be allowed to enter women's prisons, sporting events, toilets and changing rooms?

SmurfOrTerf · 29/01/2018 11:30

Does any political party think that a person with a penis is a woman ?

Spinsterf · 29/01/2018 11:31

whoo thanks for your replies just posted again without seeing any.

Cuntysnark, I am old and very cross and happy to stand up publicly and state my views. I dont have any 'woke' friends to lose, and if I did get into trouble at work for stating women don't have penises my professional body would look absolutely ridiculous.

Am currently waiting for them to phone me back.

Nauticant, I love your last question but no, I don't think it would be picked.

'Jeremy Corby said this week that transwomen are women, signalling his support for people to be allowed to change their legal sex on the basis of self definition alone, and therefore allowing males with intact male bodies access to women's sport, changing areas, prisons, refuges etc. Can the panel therefore answer the simple question - what is a woman?'

OP posts:
Wollstonecraft1 · 29/01/2018 11:31

Minerva has it. And AWS

Minerva1234 · 29/01/2018 11:34

Good point. How about:

Should someone born male, with a fully operational penis, be allowed to enter women's prisons, sporting events, toilets, changing rooms and all-women shortlists if they believe themselves to be a woman?

DodoPatrol · 29/01/2018 11:35

I think we've currently lost the battle over 'is a transwoman a woman'.

I think I'd ask: 'What does each political party mean by a transwoman? Does it mean a permanent new identity or a temporary one, and how will you check that it is being used in good faith rather than for temporary advantage?'

Ekphrasis · 29/01/2018 11:40

Does the panel believe that males who have not undergone full gender reassignment surgery, and do not have a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria, should be able to self identify as women and gain legal access to female only spaces?

For me this gets nearer to the issue; I don't think many people realise the distinction between a transsexual and someone who thinks they're a woman. The GRA is not on the populist agenda.

Ekphrasis · 29/01/2018 11:41

Sorry didn't see this:

Should someone born male, with a fully operational penis, be allowed to enter women's prisons, sporting events, toilets, changing rooms and all-women shortlists if they believe themselves to be a woman?

Ekphrasis · 29/01/2018 11:42

Are you allowed to enter a couple of different qs? Rephrased?

Ekphrasis · 29/01/2018 11:43

I actually struggle with transsexuals in sports as their body structure is still / grew as that of a man.

womanhuman · 29/01/2018 11:44

It’s tricky because each of the problem scenarios is a problem for a different reason.

Sports = they’re bigger, stronger, male puberty
Toilets, prisons, changing rooms = penises
Jo Cox programme/AWS = male socialisation/privilege, lack of women’s lived experience
Etc

Trying to capture all that in one question probably won’t work, but equally saying TIMs shouldn’t compete in women’s sport because penis isn’t a very compelling argument either.

GuardianLions · 29/01/2018 11:44

I thought the hunger striker would be topical to mention as per upthread ^

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 29/01/2018 11:46

Whatever you ask I think you need to frame it with either 'Marie' or what JC said this week as it'll need to look topical to get picked.

And when they come back to you. Blah blah support people's right to wear and identify however they want BUT sec based segregation is for a variety of very good reasons and parties across the spectrum need to listen to women who are concerned that the rights are being dismantled without any discussion or - seemingly - thought or fucking commonsense you virtue signalling bunch of twats
