According to Paris Lees in the Guardian
I wonder how their statistics stack up against the violence towards women? For TIMs it’s:
1 in 8 have been attacked in the last year by a colleague or customer
1 in 3 have been discriminated against at a cafe, bar or restaurant
1 in 4 have been on the receiving end of domestic violence
Paris (the Paris who enjoys catcalls ) then goes on to explain the street harassment that they have suffered at the hands of men or boys, citing how they were frightened to walk to school when they were young (newsflash, girls were too), that they’ve had rubbish thrown at them (happened to me too), being assaulted in public (#mefuckingtoo).
They then go on to state that This violence is often justified on the grounds we’re not “real” women, that we’re tricksters, sick men who deserve to be beaten and murdered as if women aren’t beaten and murdered on the grounds that they’re real fucking women!
I’ve really only recently hit peak trans but gosh this helps. What exactly did Paris think they were identifying into? This is reality for women and girls from the time we enter puberty.
