https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/nov/08/reddit-incel-involuntary-celibate-men-ban?CMP=fb_guu*

‘Incel’ stands for ‘involuntarily celibate’Hmm Maybe I’m naive but I didn’t even know this dark corner of the internet existed,It had over 40k members! 40k members feeling hard* done by because women don’t want to have sex with them.. From reading* the links in the article is it really surprising why? They* all sound vile and see sex as an entitlement.

I’m* glad the group has now been removed but I’m really really sick of reading about how some men think women owe them sex that they apparently need in the same way they need food and water. These creepy men are living and walking among us and that’s* scary.

Your post is impossible to read.

IFellDownAHole · 09/11/2017 13:35

Huh?

That's not my post above, that's the OP Smile

Icantreachthepretzels · 09/11/2017 14:00

These are the men that celebrate Elliot Rodgers as their patron saint and refer to him as 'the supreme gentleman'. They actually admire a man who killed a whole load of people because women wouldn't have sex with him, and wrote a manifesto saying all women should be put in concentration camps. Their highest aim is to be like him (as opposed to say - getting off the internet, finding a hobby that isn't stewing in your own bitterness and in doing so perhaps becoming likeable enough that a real woman might find them attractive.)
They call everyone else 'normies' and refer to men as 'chads' and women as 'stacies' and believe these people deserve to be brutally murdered for daring to be sexually active whilst the incels are not.
They are some of the most terrifying people (men) on the internet and I'm glad reddit have finally seen fit to shut them down - though god knows what they'll do in reaction and how much worse this will make them.

DeleteOrDecay · 09/11/2017 14:03

Sorry... massive bold fail. Not sure how that happened.

Just to point out it had 40k subscribers, that doesn’t mean 40k people believed in their shit, it was easy pickings for Reddit to take the piss out of because they’re so fucked so many probably subscribed just to see the random shit, hell it was probably trolled a lot to see the reactions to, but yeah some was extreme lit definitely should have been taken down sooner

DeleteOrDecay · 09/11/2017 14:38

Yes that is true Frustrated and I agree pretzels these men sound utterly terrifying.

I think posters on this board should be very careful when celebrating the removal of fora where the prevailing view could be described as 'extreme'. And I say this as someone who has some sympathy with a lot of what is posted here.

Not disputed that the Reddit posters are fucked up saddos.

Ereshkigal · 09/11/2017 23:27

Oh come off it dancingbear. Mumsnet is reflective of what most people think about trans demands. Can you say the same about r/incels? Are most men that vilely misogynistic? Have you seen all the rape and death fantasies they post?

IL0veCl0thes · 09/11/2017 23:30

I found it shocking that posters who regularly 'tried to claim' that they too were celibate against their wishes were banned!?

40 thousand of these women-hating bastards all wanting to have sex with the women they hate

IL0veCl0thes · 09/11/2017 23:32

you have to be kidding dancing bear. That sub forum wouldn't even allow posters to point out that celibacy happens to women too. There were posters asking in round about ways how to get away with rape, and yet a woman who pointed out repeated that women too end up celibate when that's not what they want was banned

pisacake · 09/11/2017 23:39

yes but you know why they banned it?

Not because of the years of threats of rape, etc. against women.

Nope, but because of a threat to castrate a man.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 09/11/2017 23:46

Oddly though, I'll almost miss that group. A lot of the feminist sites I subscribe to regularly repeat their posts and in a way I think it's good to know just how much some men hate women. I want to know those fuckers are out there.

IL0veCl0thes · 09/11/2017 23:48

wow........ thousands of veiled rape threats - fine.
One plan to castrate a man though.....

What a toxic group of disturbed bitter weirdos.

IL0veCl0thes · 09/11/2017 23:49

I don't like knowing how much men hate women.

I usen't to know, couldn't possibly have known before social media and fora

NotJustThreeSmallWords · 10/11/2017 00:05

40k followers? 40k men who think they are entitled to sex and hate women because they're too dysfunctional to have the proper relationships that lead to sex. That's fucking depressing.

just5morepeas · 10/11/2017 00:13

I came across an incel once on an anon forum i used to go on. I seem to remember that he actually thought that his own mother should . . . you know. Can't bring myself to write it.

I think one of the other posters - a guy - pretended to want to be "friends" with him. He really wasn't happy about it.

BriechonCheese · 10/11/2017 00:23

Wtf?

SophoclesTheFox · 10/11/2017 06:32

Let me check I've got this right - reddit bans site inciting hatred against women, so women discussing feminism on Mumsnet ought to be careful what we say in case we're next?

Okey-dokey. I will be careful not to get too uppity.

WinnieTheW0rm · 10/11/2017 07:29

"Mumsnet is reflective of what most people think about trans demands."

It's reflective of what the noisiest MNetters think of transgender issues (even the loaded term 'demands' rather than an unmarked one shows prejudice). But it does not mean that MN is any more reflective on this issue than it is of party politics or Brexit (as it's been the case in successive elections that the MN dominant view is not reflected in actual polls)

SophoclesTheFox · 10/11/2017 07:41

For the comparison to work that the MN "house view" on trans is broadly similar to the house view on women from the incel board, women here would have to seriously up our game in terms of death threats, rape threats, violent fantasies and general rage against and hatred of trans people.

They're not remotely comparable. The very concept of being "Incel" has hatred for and contempt for women baked in - the foundational belief is that men are owed sex by women. Being gender critical has no such basis. Rather, the reverse is true - the sexism as the heart of transactivism has much more in common with the incel view of the world.

BertieBotts · 10/11/2017 07:45

Reddit still has women-hating forums active. They deleted this one because of the real life violence being advocated.

DeleteOrDecay · 10/11/2017 09:50

Wait so they only removed the group because someone threatened to castrate a man. Yet the years upon years of women hating and encouraging rapey behaviour amongst themselves is fine? Good lord.
