Have you noticed that the pay cap 'breaching' pay rises have gone to very male-dominated sectors first?

I can agree with the perception the policing is male dominant but medicine? No way.

So that backs up the OP's observation then doesn't it - because unless there's been a big change in the news today no lifting of the pay cap has yet been agreed for the NHS.

I thought the exact same thing OP. It follows on from the discussion as to why more men don't go into teaching (low pay) in that there is a recruitment crisis in the police and even more so in the prison service.
Other observations are, like another PP upthread is that in times when civil unrest might be looming you need the police on your side (think Thatcher during the miners strike).
One thought/feeling I have is that the government may consider the more female dominated professions "slow to anger" and they might have a few more turns of the screw in that area.
Whoever said the police are unionised was incorrect however- they are not allowed to join a union and instead have the police federation. It's also illegal for the police to strike.
