I don't think I could pee standing up. Is this for women or men? I also would not feel safe with my trousers round my knees and my bum out in a public place.

if there's a cubicle there's no need for a urinal.

it's for people with penises basically.

silkpyjamasallday · 13/08/2017 15:29

I never put my bum on public loo seats, I always hover but that is because they are generally filthy not because I want to have to hold an uncomfortable position to wee. I can only think these female urinals are not designed with biological women in mind at all as they don't seem practical at all given the need to either remove vast swathes of your clothing, pissing all down your legs or risking skirts trailing in strangers urine. If you are a 'woman' with a penis though I guess they are great Hmm

ButtHoleinOne · 13/08/2017 17:24

To be honest I doubt that they are intended forthe people that frequent this board no offence

I'm not offended. More confused about the genitals of non feminists.

If there was a prize for the most useless invention ever - this would win it hands down.

Slimthistime · 13/08/2017 17:37

Butt, I think that poster meant what I meant, they're not for women?

RealNotImaginary · 13/08/2017 19:13

Tell you what, after having my DC, l loved the fact I still had a catheter in and did not have to cart myself off to the loo. I have nightmares about bad public toilets. Included are dirty ones, weird fancy communal ones with toilets arranged in a group like armchairs and ones which don't flush properly. Says something about awful public toilets really.

All toilets should have floor to ceiling proper locking doors, be clean and have plentiful loo roll. Nice sinks, free sanitary protection, mirrors and seats in a vestibule/waiting area for people to wait around and chat. Bliss.

Or at the very least a door for privacy. Who the hell wants to pee in front of strangers?

Datun · 13/08/2017 19:48

Men. The same men who design toilets for women.

EggysMom · 13/08/2017 19:52

Peeing in front of strangers is something that men do all the time - so that's just a matter of getting used to it, women have had privacy for so long that this is a novel idea. Go back far enough and even sit-down toilets were communal!

I've long been fascinated by whether women can use urinals (pre Shewee). Apparently you can train yourself to lift the vulva with a v-shaped finger spread to direct the stream more forwards; and also train yourself to pee more forcefully, with a distinct start and stop, so that drips don't occur. It all involves practice in the shower. Can be very useful when wild camping or hiking, apparently.

demirose87 · 13/08/2017 20:29

Men only have to unzip and don't need to undress. A woman would have to undress completely below the waste to use a urinal. It's a stupid idea.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 13/08/2017 22:42

I'm not sure men do want to pee in front of each other, in general, since they go on about avoiding standing next to other men so much.
Maybe one day someone will revolutionalise women's toilets, but this doesn't seem to be it.

I agree that just because they have urinals it doesn't necessarily mean they are not uncomfortable with it.
