Taylor Swift's sexual assault case

I have to declare a bit of fan-girl love for Taylor Swift in any case, but her testimony in her sexual assault case has only made me love her more. She's not taking any shit -and she's certainly not letting anyone victim-blame: "Wasn’t Swift critical of her bodyguard, who didn’t prevent such an obvious assault? “I’m critical of your client sticking his hand under my skirt and grabbing my ass,” ". She's so adored by so many young girls that I think this is going to send a really important message.

She has won her case

Lottapianos · 15/08/2017 09:08

Excellent news! What a brave woman. Good for her

Elendon · 15/08/2017 09:16

I'm so pleased she won the case.

Datun · 15/08/2017 10:33

Brilliant.

There were witnesses to him lifting up her skirt, an actual photograph of his hand on her backside, ridiculous testimony involving her ribs, and a ludicrous lawyer trying to blame her for her own assault.

And yet the man still thought he had a case!

Breathtaking arrogance.

Brilliant!

Well done Taylor, and for this statement:

"'I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.'"

Good on her. She is such a great role model.

I read that with a bit of a singing heart. I hope she continues in this vein. She has a massive following of young girls.

FuzzyOwl · 15/08/2017 10:57

I'm really glad she took him to court and didn't let him get away with it. She has also said she will donate to sexual abuse victims.

What a great statement.

Well done to her. It's a really strong message to send to her fans, so kudos to her.

I am so pleased she won. And yes, brilliantly handled and insightful statement

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 15/08/2017 20:20

Ms Swift did was brilliant in court.

SonicBoomBoom · 15/08/2017 20:39

She was fantastic in court. Her responses were spot on.

Agreed that nobody doubts he grabbed her bum, they just think it's acceptable behaviour.
