Taylor Swift's sexual assault case

I have to declare a bit of fan-girl love for Taylor Swift in any case, but her testimony in her sexual assault case has only made me love her more. She's not taking any shit -and she's certainly not letting anyone victim-blame: "Wasn’t Swift critical of her bodyguard, who didn’t prevent such an obvious assault? “I’m critical of your client sticking his hand under my skirt and grabbing my ass,” ". She's so adored by so many young girls that I think this is going to send a really important message.

Good for her.

MyCalmX · 11/08/2017 09:39

I'm glad she's doing this too.

What a jerk the guy is although one of his co-workers did look a lot like him (he claims it was a coworker, not him).

MrGHardy · 11/08/2017 10:34

They tried to blame the bodyguard for this? What the actual f...

Hassled · 11/08/2017 10:35

This is the relevant photo - I'm struggling to see how he's denying his hand was on her bum.

Sorry - right link this time

Well exactly. His hand is clearly on her backside, despite him claiming, bizarrely, that he was touching her rib. The security guard actually witnessed him lifting up her skirt.

What I particularly like is she has nailed it in terms of the predictable questions. Asked if she blames her bodyguard, she says no I blame your client for shoving his hand up my skirt. Asked what she feels about him being fired, she counters with I don't see how I can be implicated for his own decisions and behaviour.

She's refusing to be derailed.

Good for her.

Please, do not read BTL.

I have no idea why men feel the need to be apologists for other men's shitty behaviour, but they obviously do.

PatMullins · 11/08/2017 10:45

I like the counter sue for $1 to prove it wasn't for money

FlaviaAlbia · 11/08/2017 10:47

Yup Datun she's putting responsibility firmly back where it belongs, good on her.

DearMrDilkington · 11/08/2017 10:52

I can't stand Taylor Swift but, she's handling this perfectly. Good for her, brilliant role model to all the young girls out there that idolize her.

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 11/08/2017 11:06

I love her! I have daughters & I think she is a good role model. I particularly love singing 'Shake it off' with my DDs at the tops of our voices.

powershowerforanhour · 11/08/2017 11:50

Good woman herself.

IndominusRex · 11/08/2017 14:48

I absolutely love how she's dealt with this.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 11/08/2017 14:50

I do like her and I am so pleased she isn't taking any shit in this case.

MaisieDotes · 11/08/2017 14:54

"I am being blamed for the unfortunate events of his life that are a product of his decisions and not mine.”

Well said.

Spadequeen · 11/08/2017 14:59

What a prick. Thought she wouldn't say anything, well good for her. The more I hear about Taylor Swift, the more I like and admire her

glenthebattleostrich · 11/08/2017 15:03

Hate her music, love her attitude. She has handled this so well.

Hassled · 11/08/2017 17:35

If you listen to her talking right at the start of you get a sense of the type of shit she has to deal with on a regular basis - and how she manages to deal with it. I am full of admiration for her.

Go, Taylor.

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 11/08/2017 17:41

I like the answer to the question about why wasn't her dress pulled up at the front - because my ass is at the back of my body, she says. Way to make them look like pricks. Great stuff

DeleteOrDecay · 11/08/2017 18:07

I've never had an opinion on Taylor Swift either way but she's doing a bloody brilliant job of winning me over. Her responses to the lawyers questions are just perfect, she's making them look so stupid.

Really sad but not surprised to see the usual victim blaming drivel on social media, why didn't she move his hand away, she must have liked it, she's doing it for money/attention/publicity. In fact I don't think I've seen one positive comment aimed at her, apart from on mn. Thoroughly depressing.

DeleteOrDecay · 11/08/2017 18:09

And judging by that photo he most certainly does have his hand on her arse. Don't know if it's just me but the way he's standing there it looks like he's standing there posing with his 'prize catch' piece of meat. Ugh.

Eebahgumlass · 11/08/2017 19:21

That's exactly what it looks like Delete. I am very impressed with Taylor.

ThierryEnnui · 11/08/2017 19:23

I'm really not a fan of TS as a musician or a person, to be honest, but this is an important message and I think she's handled it very well.
