Anyone hit their thirties and suddenly *give no fucks*?

I've just found I'm speaking up loads more and telling off twats men more and more. Just had a go at some blokes catcalling teen girls. It's like I feel pushed to the edge about everything

Yes! Me! Turned 30 a few years ago, divorce, illness and upheaval really focus the mind. I'm increasingly angry at what men get away with, and give zero fucks about petty stuff.

loving the word strident .
the fucks i gave diminished rapidly from 35 and disappeared at about 42.

Be the woman hitting a fascist with her handbag you want to see in the world... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Woman_Hitting_a_Neo-Nazi_With_Her_Handbag

(She was 38)

Gingernaut · 01/08/2017 19:55

I had to turn 49 before I got a Facebook account, signing petitions, going to feminist meet ups and generally trying to have a life before I get too decrepit. 😳

missminningham · 01/08/2017 20:07

Puffins I LOVE that picture!!

missminningham · 01/08/2017 20:10

Oh sorry, 44 soon, really zero fucks came in the last couple of years, fuck count declined from mid thirties and motherhood finished them off

BossyBitch · 01/08/2017 20:10

Oh, fuck, yes! I used to be shy. I've recently had a massive go at a C-level executive because he was being a sexist prick. And then I explained the company's equality policy to him just for good measure.

I actually won that one, too, in that I've not only got an apology out of it but have also got massive respect from very senior colleagues for confronting the top of the food-chain head-on.

On the downside, though, it's led to me having to explain to several people that fetishising my badass action girl act is also misogynistic. Gah!

Henrythehoover · 01/08/2017 20:41

I think if I carry on at this rate I might be telling the woman that i work with that using the excuse "I'm over 50 blonde and a woman!" Followed by a giggle is really fucking annoying especially when she is talking to our all male directors

GinaFordCortina · 01/08/2017 21:02

Think it's a combination of my age and becoming a mother that did it for me. It's very liberating!
Oh God yes, motherhood. Is it because you become an invisible person you suddenly think 'fuck it, we're going to have words'

Just wait until you get to 53 have been seriously ill and find yourself saying to an interviewer, we are just arguing over semantics.... so do I have the job or not.

No fucks to give and ovaries of steel! Grin

strident

It has a good feel to it, doesn't it?

mrsRosaPimento · 01/08/2017 21:07

Took until I was 40! Very freeing.

GinaFordCortina · 01/08/2017 21:09

Puke. I saw someone use the term 'woman logic' the other day for not knowing the term for a power tool her husband had used.

bigkidsdidit · 01/08/2017 21:10

Ooh me too. I can't be bothered to indulge any more. An old friend kept posting slightly anti-feminist stuff on Facebook so I challenged him on it. I'd never have had the guts five years ago. I can't be fucked any more.

bigkidsdidit · 01/08/2017 21:12

Oh yes and for me it is definitely being a mother as well as age. In particular, challenging medical professionals (HV, midwife) about certain things and pushing for things (tongue tie cut) that I thought were necessary but they didn't. I'd never challenged authority before.

NoLoveofMine · 01/08/2017 21:48

Of course there are those of us yet to reach such an age who challenge sexism. Plenty of my friends won't take any sexist nonsense (and there is much of it around).

OublietteBravo · 01/08/2017 21:52

I totally identify with this. For me it started mid-thirties. I'm currently 41 and definitely have no fucks left to give Grin

redfairy · 01/08/2017 21:53

50 is totally liberating. Started feeling it late 40s. I have my place in the world and don't need to prove it to anybody.

AssignedMentalAtBirth · 01/08/2017 21:55

Raging cunt and thundering bitch

Your names have made my night Grin

retreatwhispering · 01/08/2017 21:55

Oh I love caring less and less about what other people think as I get older (early 40s).

The woman in that photo died 3 years later aged 41. It's important not to give too many fucks.

Thelilywhite · 01/08/2017 22:10

After I had my eldest ds at age thirty. Motherhood plus feminism probably. Was a total doormat before then. Rapidly increasing in not giving any at all, much to many people's disgust!

WhereYouLeftIt · 01/08/2017 22:48

Not just me, then Grin?

phoolani · 01/08/2017 22:59

My dd is convinced I have a huge ego; I don't, I just have no fucks left to give! So not only do I speak up about others, I talk myself up a storm - too many fucks given when I was young about others' opinions of me. And I don't give a fuck. 😁

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/08/2017 23:01

Ha yes....i pretty much end up telling my parents what for every weekend...
Baby steps

But life is far to short not to call people up on their bolkocks and I have two Dds so I don't stand for stereotypical crap anynore...

Ollivander84 · 01/08/2017 23:04

Not really. But then I did pour a full pint of cider and black over a man when I was 19 Blush
He kept grabbing my bum, I told him one more time I would do it, he did, and he was wearing a white shirt
