Can anyone help me with a riposte to this? Someone sent it to me and I know I disagree, but my words don't carry as much weight as a YouTube vid apparently.

When even regional ballet and opera companies charge prices that are out of range of the majority of the country, then it is the preserve of the privileged few. That might make you feel uncomfortable, but it is what it is

Scottish Opera's La Boheme starts at £19 or £10 for under 26.

The Royal Opera House has tickets starting as low as £9.

Edinburgh Festival's Don Giovanni with Budapest Festival Orchestra and Ivan Fischer start at £20.

Those are more expensive than cinema but well below rock/pop/ musical/ football tickets.

Royal Opera live streaming to cinemas is available for the price of a cinema ticket. There's no obligation to be interested in opera but blaming ticket prices for lack of interest isn't a good reason.
