Is it just me who thinks this is a ridiculous statement for a science teacher to make?

Surely a science teacher can tell the difference between natural transsexualism in animals - where their physiology has evolved to be as such - and intersex humans who have been born with chromosomal abnormalities!? How are the two comparable when one is a deviance from normative human biology (essentially a birth defect, although I know that word has stigma attached to it, I do not mean it to be derogatory), and the other is a completely natural transformation of sex for that species? How is this person a science teacher?

To me, this is like saying it's perfectly normal for a human to be born blind because HEY, moles are blind!! But the key difference is moles have evolved to be blind, humans have not - to be blind in a human is to have a disability, whereas to be blind in a mole is to simply be a mole.

Sorry for the rant but I've just been called 'stupid' and 'ignorant' for my above response to this image; apparently other people cannot see a difference between natural transsexualism and having an intersex condition. Not only that but this was all to back up the transgender movement - but yet again there's a world of difference between a natural sex transformation and a surgical one!?

What really frustrated me in this exchange was how when I mentioned that no human can literally change their sex, I got "As we speak scientists are developing artifical uterusses and eggs, and Pseudo-sperm produced from bone marrow". Now, I don't even have to look into whether those arguments are even valid to know that ARTIFICIAL and PSEUDO = NOT REAL.

I've even heard a transgendered woman claiming that as she can have sex with her neo-vagina, then it is a functioning vagina. No, it's a surgical wound that can be penetrated, it is not even a vagina - let alone a 'functioning' one. If you have to dilate your "vagina" just so the skin won't sew itself back together then how is it a real vagina? Ludicrous, I honestly cannot believe it has come to this.

Yeah, I think I am only just reaching Peak Trans. It makes me feel sad though as one of my old friends who I care about deeply has just come out as a transman - funnily enough at University, so now I feel whenever I critique trans ideology that I am betraying her.

As far as I'm aware, scientists have found no evidence that a fish or any other non-human animal that changes sex does so because it has a gender identity or body dysmorphia or feels that it was born in the wrong body. I think this makes such sex-changing animals irrelevant in justifying or explaining gender identity in transgender people.

Have any of you watched Blaire White's YouTube video? She (she passes a LOT) is a conservative transwoman who hates what the trans movement has become, she has debated self-confessed 'Genderf*ck' ContrPoints, and has made several videos debating Riley J Dennis and Milo Steward and all the other 'trans tenders' and 'special snowflakes' etc. She's very open about not being a real woman/being a male, who just chooses to live 'as a woman' for their own happiness. She is a breath of fresh air in the trans world imo.

I buy into some gender nonsense. I believe aspects of gender are completely socially constructed - the idea that girls like pink, dresses etc. However, I do think some of the things we associate with gender come from our different hormones. Different levels of estrogen and testosterone do lend themselves to different patterns of behavior between the sexes that are incorporated into genders. Other than the behaviours associated with hormones, I would say the remaining aspects of 'gender' are socially constructed.

I am aware she is an anti-feminist. I don't see why that means nobody can appreciate the videos about transgenderism.

Lilac you are perfectly entitled to hold whatever view you like, as is Blaire.

However Blaire's views on gender are in opposition to what the prevailing view is on the feminism board though, so it's a safe bet she wouldn't be hailed as someone to admire and her views on feminism would clearly have an impact on that too.

Hormones are a function of biology though, so my view is that they impact on the different sexes in different ways. Doesn't have to have anything to do with gender and you don't have to accept gender as a concept to acknowledge those differences.

Because I've always thought that the outward behaviours caused by biology were part of gender? It could well be that these behaviours are one in the same as sex, which seems to be your view?

That's fair enough. I suppose I can separate an individual into component parts and see merit worth admiring, but also aspects not worth admiring. I try not to let one aspect of someone's believes detract from the rest of their ideas.

I agree with infinity. It's not all about hormones but they are a major part of it. It is definitely (IMO) not about a magical gender essence.

But with hormone treatment a male cannot become female, because "female" hormones work on female sexed bodies in a different way to male bodies.

I can sometimes separate out someones views on one thing and look at them overall, depending on the significance of the issue, but in this case, no Blaire's views on transgenderism aren't as refreshing as you are suggesting.

Yes it is a result of their biological sex. We don't need the concept of gender to describe/understand this.

That's fine. I still think her videos where she rips the shit out of all these new genders and Tumblr vomit are refreshing. I am actually supposed they are still on YouTube. I also assumed you'd enjoy her opinions on Riley as he is very much opposed on here.
