I don't know if anyone has seen this article in the Guardian this morning? Apparently robot sex dolls will be imminently available. And they are the perfect woman

Just imagine. Next time you buy a toaster some of the components could of been used in a sex robot. When the toast pops put the top it could have similarities to the original function.

What people who say it will prevent rape are failing to consider is that there is a power component to rape. It is generally partially about sex before any of the antifeminists jump in, but always about power. Men who rape women like a specific type of sex, non consensual, violating boundaries. Satisfying an urge to be in control of another person, disregarding their feelings or actively wanting to hurt them. You can't have that with a robot.

I think by definition we men lack understanding of what it's like to be a subhuman woman.

Independent I'm not a feminist, but in my opinion you have to be pretty sad and lonely to go to the lengths of getting a robot to have sex, and very shameless too.

Venus you raise a good point, but also raise an interesting question. Assuming AI technology will continue to advance, will their not possibly come a point when robots have a degree of autonomy? And at what point would we decide they have rights?

It will be an issue one day. These things could develop what you could call a primitive form of consciousness, and then we'll have a legal and ethical headfuck.

What I mean is that 'sex positive' feminists who have embraced porn, hook up culture and 'slutwalking' bear some responsibility for a culture of what is sexual consumerism.

Well, I think we all know that men have got quite a lot to do with the sexual objectification of women. I didn't point that out because it kind of didn't need saying. But sexual liberationist feminists - in fact the hippy, yippie liberal left from the 70's on generally - are partly responsible for this culture.

They wanted an end to monogamy and the family and anything which stood in the way of their 'if it feels good do it' philosophy, and now they've got it. All the restraints and the morals are gone. Violent, degrading porn everywhere. Eight year olds watching bestiality and coprophilia on Facebook. Kids circulating nude pics of themselves. College campuses in which girls are regarded by boys as 'cum dumpsters'. Hook up apps in which a human being's worth is reduced to their image.

It's just the left's fault. It's the libertarian right with their creed of my individualism and greed. But the left were the other side of the same coin.

It's no good just blaming the patriarchy or capitalism. Well, it is those things but it's the counter-culture philosophy too and all that Erica Jong, Kate Millet 'feminism' which, lo and behold, was to men what blood was to sharks. Now there is an expectation that every women is ready to put out rather than wanting to develop a relationship. Any young girls who don't find emotionless, nihilistic sex empowering - who perhaps want someone to love and who loves them - are ostracised as some sort of freak by their peers.
