Ched Evans set to sign with his old club, Sheffield United.

Clearly the rape allegation has ruined his life. Career in tatters, reputation in shreds, no employer will touch him with a barge pole. Oh wait....

They aren't on Twitter.

Sheffield United fans are being vile about and to her.

Yay justice.

BoneyBackJefferson · 24/04/2017 22:39

Possibly, but those are not average joe professions, they're ones where he'd be in charge of children.

there is a very good chance that he will be in charge of children, many football clubs have community programs that link to primary/secondary schools and youth centres.

They will also have a youth team and an under 21 team.

The thought of him being paraded in front of them as a role model makes me want to throw up.

PoochSmooch · 25/04/2017 07:12

Jesus wept.

Another one to add to my list of men whose lives have manifestly not been ruined by rape trials following False Rape Accusations by Malicious Slappers. Wonderful.

I'm trying to work out what is in it for the club. I know absolutely hee-haw about football, so I've no idea if he's any good or not, but I am reading this as the club putting up a middle finger to everyone - like a "see? we said he was a good 'un. Now we can have him back and you all have to shut up because he's innocent". Bleurgh.

cadnowyllt · 25/04/2017 07:15

Clearly the rape allegation has ruined his life. Career in tatters, reputation in shreds, no employer will touch him with a barge pole. Oh wait,he was acquitted on appeal against conviction.

PoochSmooch · 25/04/2017 07:21

Oh bore off, cadno.

She said a rape allegation, not a conviction. Whatever the state of play now, he faced a rape allegation. Did you even read it properly before you decided to correct her?

Do you think people don't notice that it's almost always a rape thread that brings you out of the woodwork?

RJnomore1 · 25/04/2017 07:28

He's a scumbag and I'm disgusted. My own small way of protesting will be that I will never watch an SUFC game on tv again. Never. Even if Celtic drew them in the champions league (about as likely as as pigs flying I guess but hey it's about all I can do).

I'd like to think every woman and decent thinking man will boycott them but I know I'm wrong.

Likewise Clyde signing goodwillie. I can publicly call him a rapist as a judge and the media have.

Neither of them have shown one moment of remorse. Scum. I love football but when people like this are put in shirts and paraded as role models you know the whole thing needs ripped apart and started again.

cadnowyllt · 25/04/2017 08:52

Pooch

Yes, he faced a rape allegation. That allegation was tested and found wanting. That is why he has now been re-signed up for Sheffield United.

Do you think people don't notice that it's almost always a rape thread that brings you out of the woodwork?

...and your concern is ?

ItsCakeTime · 25/04/2017 09:00

Your bog standard teacher or nurse will likely never work again

Yeap they will (unless they've been struck off by the NMC, as a nurse)

I know of one nurse accused but not convicted of rape and one convicted of rape and DV, both still working.

I know both their bosses, first one, well she must have lied, the complaint was dropped (yes because she was harrased so much she was terrified and the police did nothing. Women's Aid helped her relocate) and number 2… Well he's done his time…

The staff I know are 50/50 on this several have moved jobs as don't want to work with him , the others are of the same opinion as his boss.

Ex-acquaintance convicted of child rape, pleaded guilty and all. His family won't hear a word against him. Cut contact with him when it all happened, was still in touch with the family. Then cut contact with them when they insisted on him attending events where his victim was present (also a extended family member) claiming she was a drama queen if she didn't want him there.

Also leaving him babysitting children of the same age as she was when he started abusing her.
I'm still on touch with her & her family, and she has told me that several of her cousins say that he makes them uncomfortable…but their parents won't listen…

Rape allegations and even convictions do not (always) ruin lives in my limited experience

venusinscorpio · 25/04/2017 09:04

That's not quite the whole story is it? He faced a rape allegation, was found guilty and served half the time. One appeal was thrown out but somehow managed to get a second appeal due to the systemic misogyny of the legal system. because he "motivated" some previous sex partners of the alleged victim to testify, allowing him to have a brand new trial in which a second jury let him off due to the misogyny and rape myths so prevalent in our society.

Fixed it for you.

HappyJustToBe · 25/04/2017 09:07

There was no false allegation. He was convicted originally on his own version of events.

cadnowyllt · 25/04/2017 09:41

Fixed it for you.

Thanks Smile

Dervel · 25/04/2017 09:51

I wish I was a journalist so I could write a big fuck off article titled "Ched Evans is still a Rapist."

ShoutOutToMyEx · 25/04/2017 09:51

Yes.

For another example of how accusations of sexual assault can detrimentally affect one's career, please see Donald Trump.

cadnowyllt · 25/04/2017 09:57

I wish I was a journalist so I could write a big fuck off article titled "Ched Evans is still a Rapist.

You can still write it - getting past the editors and published would be the tricky bits. Give writing it a go and post it here - I'm sure people will give you their honest opinion.

venusinscorpio · 25/04/2017 10:16

You're very welcome Smile

PoochSmooch · 25/04/2017 10:30

That aligns with my recollection of events, venus.

Though I'd include "faced a rape allegation, and from his own account of his actions, admitted raping her".

Yeah thanks, Venus, saved the rest of us doing it :), although I note the rape apologists are not convinced.

DeleteOrDecay · 25/04/2017 16:57

I haven't read the whole thread (will do once I've posted) because I am so fucking outraged about thisAngry I saw it on Facebook yesterday, then started reading the accompanying comments and immediately regretted it. People were saying his life has been ruined, erm how exactly?Angry

DeleteOrDecay · 25/04/2017 17:12

And for the record he was/is a very mediocre footballer. Nowhere near premier league level even before the original trial (or even Championship level imo) so I have no idea why Sheffield United are wanting to sign him when there are so many better players available at that level.

Meanwhile the victim has been constantly hounded, outed on social media despite her anonymity and abused throughout the whole process. Has had to move numerous times due to threats of death and violence toward her, presumably she's away from her family and friends so not much of a support network for her either. Yet many people are far more concerned about how a professional footballer has supposedly had his career ruined yet is still playing week in week out and being paid thousands a week for the privilege.Hmm

I hope the victim made good use of the money raised on just giving a few months back with no guilt attached on her part. She deserved every penny and more.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 25/04/2017 17:24

I was told by my sonwho does know about football, during the appeal process, that he was nothing special in football terms and even if found not guilty will still be scum.

It's not right, but if say Christiano Ronaldo or the other Ronaldo at the height of his game had done this ( not that there is the slightest suggestion they have, I'm just picking them from the few super names I know) a club might decide talent over rules everything. Luis Suarez for example (and even there it is other players who bear the brunt)

Not right morally but understandable. Here it is just a big 2 fingers isn't it?

BeyondUser24601 · 25/04/2017 17:30

Ched Evans the convicted rapist (sue me) is a shite footballer, who is revelling in the notoriety he has garnered from this Angry no way would anyone be paying him anywhere near this attention without the conviction - he'd be a no one at Port Vale

And yes, I hope his victim was able to move to the new life she planned and is happy Flowers

Andrewofgg · 25/04/2017 17:47

cadmowyllt On his own version of events he is s scumbag. As for his footballing talents, there are as many good fish in the sea as ever came out of it. What the hell do SUFC think they are doing?

DrMorbius · 25/04/2017 18:51

Aka Patrick Kliuvert, Holland football international, convicted vehicular homicide and alledged gang rapist. Went on to have a long and very successful career including international.

The scummers who named the victim have had their punishment.

Cautioned.....
