Awareness of my own labia? Not so much. Yes, after my son was born and everything was black and blue and I sat down without thinking. Yes, when my over sensitive skin takes a dislike to a new shower gel, but other, no. Somewhat depressingly I do have conversations with teenagers and young women who think there is something wrong with theirs, largely because of the ideas they or their partners have picked up from watching porn.

Like others I am only aware of my labia after childbirth , when injured or when a stray pube gets caught somewhere. I have NEVER just felt them rub together whilst walking into a shop and thought 'oooooh I feel female'. What the actual fuck?

Having said that I have never sashayed my way into a boutique with perfect hair, a short tight skirt, a large sparkly bag and perfectly manicured nails either...maybe if I try woman-ing the same way as males do, I might become aware of the little things such as my labia rubbing together to make me feel female.

Perhaps that's where we're going wrong, eh wanking...
