This is what male posters often do and this is why we might get short with you.
Don't do this and you will be fine.

Is sex-separation the only way we can't live together??

cadnowyllt · 12/02/2017 11:43

I'm presuming you are an adult and so, do you really honestly think you've hurt anybody's 'feelings' by that link of yours ? "Oh dear everyone - look at me - how naughty I am - being beastly to the menz, ooh what am I like ?'.

Fancy growing up any time soon ?

HelenDenver · 12/02/2017 11:45

Pint of your usual bullshit, cadno?

Oh, my mistake, you're tanked up on it already.

CruellaDeVilsEvilSister · 12/02/2017 11:45

Is sex-separation the only way we can't live together??

Sex-separation is an interesting idea though isn't it? Purely hypothetical of course because as VestalVirgin said upthread men would never actually want it because they stand to lose too much. What would women lose from it though?

DeviTheGaelet · 12/02/2017 11:49

cadno in all seriousness I'm surprised that the link and the conversation about MGTOW have bothered you enough for you to post snarky comments. If it's not because your feelings are hurt, perhaps you can enlighten me as to what did cause it?

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 12/02/2017 11:51

I wouldn't want to lose the men who that link doesn't apply to.

MrsDoylesTeabags · 12/02/2017 11:55

Grin Basil
Devi I thought it was a really interessting article with some very good points. It's a shame the MRA comments below did not read it.

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 12/02/2017 12:05

Maybe a flow chart would work better...

Are you here to tell feminists where feminism is going wrong? yes/no

Are you prepared to listen to what women say about their lives? yes/no

Do you think feminists are a borg-like collective with a hive mind? yes/no

Do you think the gender pay gap is purely an artefact of the way ONS collect statistics? yes/no

Do you attach the word "but" to the end of the sentence "Of course women should be able to say what happens to their own bodies"? yes/no

Do you think some rapes are more "rapey" than others? yes/no

Do you think domestic violence is an overwhelmingly gendered phenomenon? yes/no

Do you think the sex industry is an overwhelmingly gendered phenomenon? yes/no

Do you think that sexist adverts are fine because DIET COKE ADVERT, PEOPLE!!!? yes/no

Eventually the flow chart would lead to

Hi, sounds like you might have some interesting opinions and be able to have a two-way conversation about them. Welcome.

  5. No.

  9. No.
TalkingintheDark · 12/02/2017 12:20

Love the flow chart! If only...

DeviTheGaelet · 12/02/2017 12:36

Awesome M0stly.
Can we add a question about circumcision? And girls taking all the STEM jobs?

I wouldn't want to lose the men who that link doesn't apply to.

They wouldn't take up much space so they'd be welcome! Grin

CruellaDeVilsEvilSister · 12/02/2017 12:54

Great flowchart M0stly!

Xenophile · 12/02/2017 13:59

Good flow chart M0stly.

Let's see if they can be more honest than the obvious.

makeourfuture · 12/02/2017 14:41

I was reading about the "surplus male theory". The author was stating that armies and navies existed in order to keep masses of young males from causing problems. But I was thinking that as soon as you build an army you may feel the need to invade something.

AntiSocialInjusticePacifist · 12/02/2017 14:57

Basically men cannot be victims of anything? Especially systemic sexism? The end of that article really grinds my gears as essentially it's women who get to play the victim card, and we men should be too heroic and masculine to stoop to playing it ourselves.

Give. Me. A. Fucking. Break. I mean really, enforcing gender roles much??

Xenophile · 12/02/2017 14:59

Is the "victim card" the same as the "race card"?

CruellaDeVilsEvilSister · 12/02/2017 15:00

I've read some interesting stuff via Reddit about it makeourfuture There is a decent argument for there being a need to reduce the number of men substantially. Again, not something that's going to happen. Even as men drive us towards the brink of the next mass extinction event (environmental catastrophe or nuclear war) the effects are going to be to wipe out as many women as men.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 12/02/2017 15:49

All the men in my family are feminists because they have a basic understanding of the facts.

What pisses me off about the male timewasters we see here is they don't even know the basics. If women were responsible for 98% of sex crime and 90% of violent crime, men would very rightly be up in arms. They would be demanding spaces away from female predators and so on.

There seem to be a lot of men with zero empathy for women's vulnerability to attack. If you're a man of average height and strength you need to imagine a situation where the world is suddenly populated with hugely tall and strong gay men, most of whom are no doubt lovely people, but some of whom get a kick out of raping, beating and murdering men. How might that feel?

Decent blokes already empathize. The male posters we've had here recently don't seem to. They bleat about srxism, failing to understand that gender is a ball and chain that systematically disadvantages women and advantages men. The chain may trip up men occasionally but the ankle it is fixed to is always female.

CruellaDeVilsEvilSister · 12/02/2017 15:59

It's great that the men in your family have looked at the basics and are at least making an effort to reduce the harm that they do Prawn. I disagree that men can be feminists though.

ChocolateFuzz · 12/02/2017 16:16

Is the article saying that anti-feminists, MRAs, and misogynists are the same? It says they are initially but then refers to them separately.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 12/02/2017 16:28

I have always wondered

Are these cards, victim, woman, race, that people refer to laminated?

I wouldnt like mine to wear out

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 12/02/2017 16:55

Whether men can be feminists or not is something that comes up every so often and it's not usually very controversial. It doesn't seem to matter much which view you take. If we started charging membership fees and issuing cards I guess it might. Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 12/02/2017 17:03

My take on that particular detail is that if a bloke is behaving as a feminist ally, I don't really care whether he's labelled that or 'feminist'.

HelenDenver · 12/02/2017 17:07

Me too, Errol.
