Where is the photo shaming the man, or does he get a penis pass?

It does make me feel uncomfortable, Hiphop. I doubt she reads the Newcastle Chronicle if she lives in North Yorks, but she might be on MN...

Not necessarily at the time. She would have found out once the court proceedings against this , frankly very stupid and selfish, woman started.

The same applies to this woman's husband. There wasn't a hope in hell she wasn't going to be found guilty and all she has achieved is uninvited publicity for all concerned, including 2 people who were not cheating on their spouses.

FrameyMcFrame · 14/01/2017 14:20

Yes, thanks for that. I've realised now that I shouldn't have posted it, asked for it to be deleted, but it hasn't been.

And yes I read it twice, I think it is sexist and despite the fact she tried to deny it she still didn't deserve to be shamed in this way.

Sorry if I've offended anyone

And apparently it's in the Northern Echo, which serves North Yorkshire as well so I guess the guy's wife is going to know

So the feminism board is now against the Police enforcing the sex offences act?

BertrandRussell · 14/01/2017 14:32

"So the feminism board is now against the Police enforcing the sex offences act?"

Yes. Absolutely. That's what everyone on here is saying.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/01/2017 14:37

Maybe if slut shaming like this didn't happen she would've felt she could admit it

You really are talking nonsense OP. Had she accepted the caution no one other than the police officers and the man involved would know about this.

She acted in a selfish and stupid way. I feel sorry for the spouses; although the man involved was clearly cheating on his wife I can summon up a smidgen of sympathy for him.

FrameyMcFrame · 14/01/2017 14:42

It wasn't anything to do with 'sex offences'
She was tried on a charge of public decency.

And I can't believe you're saying she was selfish. She probably denied it because she was scared of losing her job. Do you really think she deserved a public shaming?
Sorry if this thread drew attention to it more but I do think it's right to point something out as being wrong.

I wish a lot of you would refrain from the expression "let off with a caution". A caution (particularly for outraging public decency) would appear on an enhanced DBS check and potentially affects employment in about 1/3 of jobs. It is a serious matter so if it was offered by police, should only be agreed to after some thought and guilt is accepted.

She may have tried to persuade the CPS that there was insufficient evidence or not in the public interest to prosecute. Clearly her version of events is weak but she is entitled to try and make her case (but accept the consequences if she is found guilty). Not exactly crime of the century

FrameyMcFrame · 14/01/2017 14:45

Do you really thing two people having consensual sex in a car is a sex offence?

OP posts:
BertrandRussell · 14/01/2017 14:47

Don't you have to reveal cautions on DBS checks? And on application forms for jobs?

qwerty232 · 14/01/2017 14:50

Do you really thing two people having consensual sex in a car is a sex offence?

Depends where the car is. If it's somewhere where they might be seen by people - especially children - then arguably, yes. Can't really make my mind up about this one.

funnyandwittyusername · 14/01/2017 14:51

I stand corrected I assumed she would have been charged under sec 66.

BertrandRussell · 14/01/2017 14:54

"Depends where the car is. If it's somewhere where they might be seen by people - especially children - then arguably, yes"

But after midnight in a remote car park in January?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/01/2017 14:54

And I can't believe you're saying she was selfish. She probably denied it because she was scared of losing her job. Do you really think she deserved a public shaming?

And do you think she would have told her employers if she had been cautioned? Or that they would have found out?

She was cheating on her husband for starters so , yes, I'm happy to call her selfish.

FrameyMcFrame · 14/01/2017 14:57

Querty I really don't agree. Sex offences have a definition in law, being seen accidentally shagging in a car isn't a sex offence.

OP posts:
FrameyMcFrame · 14/01/2017 15:00

I think her job may have required DBS checks so yes, her employers would've found out.

I'm not saying what she did was right or wrong. I'm just complaining at the way it was reported.

Okay, I legal terms you might be right. But surely if someone is having sex where they can be seen by the general public then arguably that should count as a sexual offence?

If it was happening outside a school for example?

She wasn't charged with a sex offence.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/01/2017 15:08

Rules on disclosure. Unless she was working or applying to work with children I don't think she would have to disclose this.

I think saying its a sex offence makes it sound as though she's abused or hurt someone.

Anyone with half a brain can see they weren't trying to be seen, they went to a secluded car park that is half a mile down a lane from the main road. At 1 in the morning.
