Why can't it just say 'Family Organiser'?

I think it is because it is intended for children to give as a Christmas present, because all mum's love being given a wife work present from DCs. Like aprons and tea towels. Because women are so hard to buy for.

I am a millennial. Google calendar or similar would be preferable but DH chose to buy a phone that's not compatible with anything. So crap calendars it is. ~because of patriarchy~

I just bought for pennies a 'family organiser' from Aldi. It has a pin board added to it as well. Also the picture is very neutral, gardening based, which is good for me.

PoochSmooch · 04/01/2017 13:10

I know that flumpy was being flip - I picked up on it because user had just called us a bunch of bitter man haters on another thread, then highlighted flumpy's post as being sexist. So it will get dragged to other parts of the board in user's flounce from FWR as "jesus christ, these feminist harpies as sexist AF, aren't they?". I think we get enough of that already.

On-topic: I don't have an organiser. I'm not a mum, so I can't get one. SO SAD (

Hi Pooch!
I said no such thing. This is a direct copy and paste:

"I've become more and more drawn to feminism in the last few years. I've tried to talk about it to my friends but they just don't want to know - they dismiss feminism as a bunch of bitter, angry women. I joined Mumnset today to discuss Feminism and to learn more about it. I've click on a couple of threads and it would seem my friends were right! This thread more than any others proves it!

Sorry you lot are awful!."

Nobody said "man-haters" you just made that up.

I'll happily accept your apology.

PoochSmooch · 05/01/2017 07:47

oh, ok, I'll amend that.

you called us bitter and angry, said you were truly afraid of becoming like posters here because feminism has nothing to offer you. you finished by saying "you lot are awful". I inferred the "man hating" element from the tone, but you did not say it.

is that better?

thatstoast · 05/01/2017 15:29

Why can't we be angry? There's lots of angry men (at least 12) and they're doing ok as a group.

Because toast, we have to be continually pleasant, kind, agreeable and nice. It's how to totally get things sorted, given how well it's worked so far... Hmm

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 05/01/2017 16:20

It just seems a rather pointless thing to expend energy being angry about when it can easily be avoided.

I'm not angry about the calendar.

What really strikes me is that it seems to have a contradictory message. On the one hand, it's saying that 'Mum' is obviously the grown-up/wears the trousers – she is the one who will buy and use the organiser, therefore she is the capable one.

On the other, it seems to suggest that 'Mum' will only like and buy and use the organiser if it's festooned with cutesy pictures of birds and hearts and presents, in sickly colours, as if she were a child.

BeyondTheStarryNight · 07/01/2017 16:50

Oo, I found a purple one, with kitcheny things on it (not cupcakes - I mean cooking implements, good as it hangs in the kitchen) that doesn't say "mum's" :)

BeyondTheStarryNight · 07/01/2017 16:51

And it was only a fiver too!
