I'm just - what? WTF? what is wrong with a woman who can say this, & who thinks Michelle is anything other than classy, beautiful & dignified?

“It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House. I’m tired of seeing a ape in heels”

'This is the ultimate irony of the anti-“political correctness” crusader – they say something horrendously racist and then feel victimized when they have to face consequences for their actions'

It's really upsetting. I know people think like this, but at least most have the awareness not to say it out loud. That we are moving into a world where people feel they can...Sad

LowDudgeon · 14/11/2016 21:01

Looking at this report it's not at all surprising Sad Angry

'African-Americans make up about 4 percent of West Virginia's 1.8 million residents, according to the U.S. Census.
'About 77 percent of Clay County residents supported Trump in the Nov. 8 election. In 2012, President Barack Obama received 31 percent of the county vote when Republican Mitt Romney easily carried the state.'

'Last week in Kentucky, Republican Dan Johnson defeated incumbent Democrat Linda Belcher in Bullitt County despite a series of Facebook posts that depicted Barack Obama and his wife as monkeys. Republican officials, including likely new House Speaker Jeff Hoover, had called on Johnson to drop out of the race. But Hoover declared last week that Johnson would be "welcome in our caucus."'

Pickle I genuinely don't know about Americans (well with a few wxceptions) but do you really think there's a lot of that in England?
(Genuine question)

oldlaundbooth · 14/11/2016 21:04

Incredible. She didn't just say this out loud she put it on Facebook!

Racist, she can't spell and dumb as well.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/11/2016 21:06

who knew it was possible to fit such a horrendously racist and sexist sentiment into so few characters.

Absolutely awful. Horrifying.

SweetGrapes · 14/11/2016 21:07

Don't understand this at all. Do they see a different person? The Obama's are both sooo dignified. Can't they see it?

LowDudgeon · 14/11/2016 21:07

from TV news clip in the link below:

she's been reprimanded, doesn't know if she'll lose her job, but thinks "the aftermath of her post has become a hate crime against her"

she doesn't do perception, does she? (or grammar)

I dread where this is all going. "Openly gay" people in the mainstream rags. Overt racism and sexism from those in power.
anyway. ..enough. I'm off to smell some kittens or something.

StealthPolarBear · 14/11/2016 21:11

Racism (and a lot less severe) is a hate crime here - is it in the us?
I know Katie Hopkins said she'd move over there if they elected trump, has she done it so quickly and got a job in politics straight away?!

Xenophile · 14/11/2016 21:14

No, she's not going, apparently we need her here.

I read somewhere that there's a gofundme to pay for her to fuck off.

StealthPolarBear · 14/11/2016 21:15

We need her here? To spread the hate presumably.

Lorelei76 · 14/11/2016 21:16

Maybe I'm naive but till recently I never worried about people perceiving me this way, it's the kind of comment that would have been shocking 30 years ago and I thought we'd moved on.

Sorry to harp on but the sexism and racism exposed by the election of Trump has really broken me. I used to think id like retire to Florida....more fool me. Oh well,,they'll be delighted that a non white woman won't even visit any more.

thenightsky · 14/11/2016 21:18

Michelle Obama is one of my 'look up to' people.

Lorelei76 · 14/11/2016 21:18

Sorry cross posts, I meant the ape comment, not Katie .hopkins!

I read she wants to make as much money as she can for her kids in case she dies early and that's why she spouts poison, not sure that's any kind of defence.

SenecaFalls · 14/11/2016 21:19

Racism (and a lot less severe) is a hate crime here - is it in the us?

Speech alone can seldom be a hate crime in the US because of the First Amendment.

StealthPolarBear · 14/11/2016 21:20

Yes lore lei. My grandparents when I was a child would be classed as racist now (not my grandad who is still alive!) but it was ignorance with no hate and wouldn't have been anything like this. I feel as though we've gone back in time. Don't know to when but well before I was born.

StealthPolarBear · 14/11/2016 21:21

Thanks senaca. Tbh at least if people say it it sparks a little outrage. If they just think itwe'll never know. But I'm not on the receiving end so not fair of me to say that really.

Bitofacow · 14/11/2016 21:25

She has been brilliant, and still is, but that's not actually the point.

She could have been the worst First Lady ever and that comment is still sickening.

Just when you think it can't get any worse........

StealthPolarBear · 14/11/2016 21:25

I wonder if this is a sign of things to come. Have we found trump's successor in however many years?

Lorelei76 · 14/11/2016 21:34

Stealth what a scary thought!
I've already got the music from Mississippi Burning in my head. A film I watched as a piece of history, now it feels like a fucking warning.

Well, it is West Virginia. Possibly the most notoriously regressive, backward state in the U.S, so not that surprising, I'm afraid.

areyoubeingserviced · 14/11/2016 21:40

OMG- the irony is that some people deny that there is racism.

Xenophile · 14/11/2016 21:41

In a country where "white's only" is being hand written above water coolers, I'm not surprised. Trump is a racist. surrounded by racists who are making racism and misogyny cool again.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/11/2016 21:42

She could and probably would face criminal charges in the UK.

Clearly some female Trump supporters are racist and thick.
