Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Is this parody? I hope it is. (Reproductive rights for people with testicles. What?)

"I can’t have babies. And no one in the reproductive justice movement is talking about this."

This complaint is uttered by a transwoman. I.e. biological male.

everydayfeminism.com/2015/11/trans-women-reproductive-justice/

Has any actual woman ever demanded that treatment for her very real infertility of her real female body be placed above issues like contraception and abortion in the feminist movement? I cannot remember even one such instance.

But here this transwoman is, and demands that feminism prioritize sperm banking.

@whatdoIget: Well, you could have worded it nicer, but certainly, having intercourse with themselves is exactly what they would have to do to get themselves pregnant.

If that was possible, that is.

@Lass: I have found transmen to be altogether more believable in their transsexuality than transwomen. Must be because there is no female equivalent to an autogynephile and the transmen are all actual transsexuals.

Also note the complete erasure of the surrogate (ie the actual biological woman) in her narrative...but then, isn't that what most trans seem to want to do anyway?

It's completely narcissistic. 'She' talks about reproducing like a solo act. Arghh!!! I'm having a hulk!smash moment!

VestalVirgin · 16/11/2015 19:50

Edeline: Yes, that is one of the reasons why I am glad surrogacy is illegal in Germany. As is organ trade.
While this is a bit illogical considering that prostitution is legal (prostitutes can get pregnant from "clients", so I fail to see how it is better than surrogacy), I won't complain about it anymore. Not when surrogacy so clearly enables men to appropriate women's bodies.

I thought that transwomen wanted to take HRT so that they looked less like men. And she's angry that this has the side effect of suppressing sperm production? Well, duh.

I think Luna needs to go back to school - she seems to be lacking in an understanding of basic biology.

And Everyday Feminism has long become a refuge for the batshit crazy transactivist - the women that work there are falling over themselves so much to be right on and supportive that they don't seem to realise the absurdity of 95% of what they post.

VestalVirgin · 16/11/2015 20:08

Regarding Everyday Meninism, I found some rather sweet comic about a hairy girl who hated her monobrow until her mother took her to see the self-portraits of Frida Kahlo. That one was also written by a woman.

Most posts seem to be by males for males, though.

Reading the poem I had to watch Monty Python

PlaysWellWithOthers · 16/11/2015 20:33

No. Not a parody. Welcome to the wonderful world of transgenderism.

Frogs in boiling water anyone?

ToffeePenny · 16/11/2015 20:35

I do think sperm and egg-freezing (don't know the proper terms) should be included in the cost of hormone therapy for transition though (and included in the consideration of the cost before giving it).

I think this for any medical treatment that makes the taker sterile.

I don't think that's a feminist concern though.

Shallishanti · 16/11/2015 20:48

hey toffeepenny brilliant clip from the Life of Brian- how were they so prescient??

almondpudding · 16/11/2015 20:51

I have clicked on the link to the artist person.

They seem to be saying that when a trans woman is producing sperm, she is pregnant.

ToffeePenny, indeed, it is not a feminist concern.
And I do not think the general public should pay for sperm-freezing for transwomen, as they do not, strictly speaking, require the hormone treatment. (Unlike people who need to be treated for cancer, etc)

There is not even proof that transition lowers the suicide rates.

Not in the slightest offended, the nearest I've got to a giggle all day.

But I think it might be my peakiest trans.

onahorsewithnoname · 16/11/2015 21:38

Sorry that was for whatdoIget

Listen up people! Apparently showing off your baby photos is cissexist! Who knew?

I fell down the Everyday Feminism rabbit hole after reading the original article and found all sorts of whatthefuckery. Is the "everyday" in the name supposed to be ironic?

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 16/11/2015 22:19

Fucking hell.

They really do have an article about marginalising disabled asexual people. Sorry, Slugs, I thought you were joking.

venusinscorpio · 16/11/2015 22:22

Read it and weep:

www.salon.com/2014/10/15/a_transgender_mom_becomes_working_mother_of_the_year/

You'd be forgiven, in this ridiculous fawning article, for thinking that Meghan was a single mother i.e. had a child via a surrogate who was contracted similarly to what this other idiot thinks feminists should be promoting (volunteering for...?) . And in a way, Meghan did. Meghan's wife was the surrogate. Yes, Meghan's children's natural mother gets not one single mention. She's completely erased from the story. But I'm sure she comes in handy while Meghan goes about being an important marketing executive.

The (very!) gender critical version:
