Yeah, I don't think you are being goady, Meph, I just disagree with you.

cadnowyllt · 04/09/2015 13:32

If men can't sort themselves out then perhaps radical feminists need to sort them out for them.

perhaps...er...what do you have in mind ?

cadnowyllt · 04/09/2015 13:33

oops - too late.

YonicScrewdriver · 04/09/2015 13:34

Cadno, you just quoted a deleted troll here to cause trouble

Lottapianos · 04/09/2015 13:34

Good work MNHQ

MephistophelesApprentice · 04/09/2015 13:34

That's fine then Yonic.

I don't imagine it will ever actually be an issue I have to oppose, but I have studied too much suffering that began as a thought experiment and a minor prejudice to be complacent about this sort of thing.

YonicScrewdriver · 04/09/2015 13:36

Heavens, did a man and a woman just have a civil disagreement on FWR? Shall we bookmark the thread for the next "meanies" incident?!

cadnowyllt · 04/09/2015 13:37

I had posted before I saw she had been deleted.

YonicScrewdriver · 04/09/2015 13:39

He/she, I think you meant, cadno.

cadnowyllt · 04/09/2015 13:43

You choose the words for your posts, I'll choose mine.

FirestoneD · 04/09/2015 13:47

There may not be a conference next year.

OP posts:
YonicScrewdriver · 04/09/2015 13:49

You think there was a higher than 50% chance that troll was female and not an MRA visitor, given the disgusting post about the refugee child?

OK dokes.

cadnowyllt · 04/09/2015 13:55

That says more about your own prejudices than about me. The poster says something disgusting (which I didn't see btw) - so you decide this suggests that the poster is not a woman but a man, is that it ?

YonicScrewdriver · 04/09/2015 14:04

No, I believe the poster to have been an MRA troll based on their posts on this and the other thread. MRA trolls are usually men. Hence I suggested he/she instead of "she" - as you are taking a more definitive stance than I am because you want to just say "she", not sure why you are critiquing me. Especially as your first post on the thread dripped sarcasm on the basis, presumably, that you find JB boring as I don't for a minute think you read the article before your first post.

#WeSeeYou, cadno.

Dervel · 04/09/2015 14:05

I think it's self evident the camp suggestion is hyperbole. I may not understand Julie Bindel, but I support her right to a platform.

PlaysWellWithOthers · 04/09/2015 14:09

Yonic... the time has come, I believe, to just ignore the more egregious trolls, no?

YonicScrewdriver · 04/09/2015 14:18

Mmm, you are wise, Plays!

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 04/09/2015 14:31

Yes, yes, please lets ignore them. They are derailing more and more threads, and making it more and more difficult to discuss the things we want to discuss, instead of the things they want us to discuss.

Lets just talk around them. Treat them like toddlers throwing a tantrum in the corner because mummy won't give them a biscuit.

Re: Trolls.

I have heard that 8chan is planning raid.

YonicScrewdriver · 04/09/2015 15:21

Thanks, Meph.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 04/09/2015 15:30

That explains a few recent posts.

MephistophelesApprentice · 04/09/2015 15:34

If you see links, particularly ones out up by first time users, look to see if '8ch' is part of the URL. They like to use bait sites, deliberately arranged to be as shocking as possible, to provoke as extreme response as they can from believers of a targetted ideology. The extreme responses will then be used to defame the users of the site/ideologically aligned.

Sometimes I find their antics amusing, but Mumsnet isn't deserving of their focus.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 04/09/2015 15:34

On that note - call me old fashioned, but don't they have anything better to do at the weekend? Aren't there parties to go to, gigs to attend?

My DC are young people, I can't imagine any of them spending their weekends annoying a bunch of women on the internet. In fact, if they were doing that I'd be concerned and suggest a visit to the GP.

PlaysWellWithOthers · 04/09/2015 15:35

Nice of them to take time out of their pressing masturbating schedule to try to silence women. Their lives must be so fulfilling. ...
