I've just had my lunch break ruined. Was walking back to work in a very happy mood, sun was shining and I just had one of those tampon ad moments where I felt happy at being alive (despite not wearing white jeans). I see this guy walking towards me and I thought how he looked like Father Christmas, sort of cuddly and kind looking. So I made the stupid, stupid mistake of smiling, and that was all the invitation he needed to say "Nice tits love" as he walked past. I was so shocked I just stood there an idiot and didn't say anything. It made my skin crawl, he was old enough to be my grandfather!

Where do men get off thinking that it's ok to say things like that? It's just repulsive and ruined my happy mood .

I noticed the other day that I've got into the habit of lowering my head/eyes if I smile at a strange man! I think I started doing it to avoid unwanted remarks but when I realised I did it twice in one morning I started thinking 'why am I acting like a bloody concubine slave?'

Now I'm going to make an effort to stop because I'm not lower than other people. Maybe I'll try not to smile at anyone but it's my natural reaction to eye contact most of the time. Plus then you get told to cheer up love.

I try to channel Medusa and give people stony stare. Sometimes I mistakenly give people I know stony stares.
