Started with a Cracked.com article about atheism not doing itself any favours to a Guardian article about Dawkins' "Dear Muslima" letter, to this.

I dabble in and out of the FWR boards, most of my chat here is in Relationships, so, apologies if this has been mentioned before, but what's anybody's take on this? Is there better? Etc?

Personally I have a soft spot for World of Warcraft. Every class/race combination is available in male or female and there's no difference in abilities between the sexes (although some of the armour is ridiculously sexed-up - paladins in plate bikinis anyone? - still, you can transmogrify its appearance into less revealing sets). There are different ways the game can be played, although obviously mostly based around fighting/killing stuff (there's a clue in the name) you can play a more pacifistic role or concentrate on the less violent quests and mini-games if that is your bent.

To return to "Hey Baby", the article says: How we convince young men that it is not "complimentary" or "flattering" to yell sexual requests at women from moving vehicles is not as easy as one might think. I think the main problem is that many of them don't actually give a shit whether it's complimentary or flattering. They just say you're supposed to believe it is when they're pulled up on it.

Is it egomaniacal of me to wonder if my encouragement here was partially responsible for the current Vergina situation?

If so- well done, kiddo. That's the spirit!

There were plenty of women playing wow when I was Annie, possibly not 50/50, but not far from it, I loved my time there, didn't experience much misogyny apart from having to listen to random European teenage boy banter in pugs Grin.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 24/05/2015 22:40

It's sad how awful wow got just before I stopped playing it. Some really vicious sexist twattery going on. Along the lines of "oh, you're a girl, you won't be any good at killing X end boss, so we're going to boot you from the group".

Got dull, so DH and I stopped playing.

I must say I've been playing less lately; all the garrison maintenance felt like a full-time job, with the important distinction that I was paying them instead of the other way round. Re being booted from groups for lack of penis: the answer is to play a male toon, then they don't even ask. Small-mindedness can have its advantages.

Now MN is beginning to feel like a full-time job as well...

Less and less for me. Tired of being told I'm a fucking horrible bitch by people I have no respect for. Plus, I now have an allotment!
