Inspired by a couple of other threads...

Cat fight
Bimbo
Glamourous (in the context of, say, Glamourous Lawyer Amal Clooney)
Maiden name (birth name is preferable, I think)
Losing of virginity (any other firsts like first house, first pay packet etc are not depicted as losses)
Busty

Open to suggestions and discussions on my choices!

Bitch - my single most hated word
Cougar - I mean wtf?
little madam - just no
mutton dressed as lamb
let herself go
MILF
frape
bridezilla
whore (and I am comforted by the fact that the auto correct on my phone didn't recognize it as a word)
broads
son of a bitch

I'm sure there are more Wink.

I would not get rid of beauty therapy immediately, as it does refer to a level of expertise of mostly female workers and business owners. A beauty therapist has higher levels of skills, experience and training than a beautician. We might want different terms but there is a distinction that has to be kept.

A bit like getting rid of master's degree as a term but still wanting to make a distinction from a BA or BSc.

I also like the skill implied in spinster. I think the term should be reclaimed.

I don't like the US term wifebeater for an item of clothing.

ocelot41 · 13/12/2014 15:04

Wifebeater is an item of clothing????Shock

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 13/12/2014 15:12

Yes, a "wifebeater" is a grubby vest top inferred to be worn by the type of guy that slobs around the house dressed so, swigging beer from a can and giving his wife a slap if she doesn't serve his dinner on time

ocelot41 · 13/12/2014 15:14

Yuk

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 13/12/2014 15:16

here you go

ocelot41 · 13/12/2014 15:20

That's truly horrid. Who thought that one up?

YonicSleighdriver · 13/12/2014 16:01

"Took advantage of"

Show-off ( both applied to little girls)
Strident

vesuvia · 13/12/2014 16:14

My suggestion is "got herself pregnant".

ocelot41 · 13/12/2014 16:15

Yes, you always wonder how????

Borka · 13/12/2014 16:18

Prick tease

ocelot41 · 13/12/2014 16:20

Dyke ( used nastily rather than as a term of endearment)

YonicSleighdriver · 13/12/2014 16:20

Barely legal (boak)

SnowSpot · 13/12/2014 16:23

Ladyboner. Only because it's very yucky and implies that we don't have our own way if being aroused.

Also - frothing at the gash. For oh so many reasons.

YonicSleighdriver · 13/12/2014 16:29

Holy moly, snowspot, not heard those!!

OP posts:
SnowSpot · 13/12/2014 16:34

And now you'll never un-hear them. Sorry about that one! Xmas Wink

ocelot41 · 13/12/2014 16:35

Gash actually. That's pretty vile

YonicSleighdriver · 13/12/2014 16:36

Ah, no worries.

"It's things like X that give women a bad name"

vesuvia · 13/12/2014 16:42

Pamper.

If "pamper" doesn't vanish, then perhaps, in an attempt to reduce its too strong link with feminine frivolity, pamper could be used more often for activities of men and boys e.g. men pampering themselves by going to a football match.

YonicSleighdriver · 13/12/2014 16:47

Vesuvia, THANK YOU!

Can I stick "indulge yourself" and "have some me time" in Room 101 with "pamper" when they are being used in the same way (especially the latter)?

Mumpreneur. Hate it with a passion. Always hear "baby making machine manages to dredge up enough brain cells to do something else...what a clever little woman" Angry

BlandandInsipid · 13/12/2014 16:53

The phrase 'real woman' or I suppose a 'real man'.
What does it even mean anyway? Like when you see 'real women have curves' does this mean less curvy girls are unreal? Holograms? I don't get it.

SnowSpot · 13/12/2014 16:59

Mypoos - YYY!!!
It's always women in Red magazine who are referred to as that hideous word. I can't even bring myself to type it.

It's obviously totally sexist as you'd never hear a man having his parental status dredged up like that.
