He thinks it's funny.

I can't formulate an argument beyond "it's vile and horrid and not nice at all"

What do you all think?

You need to read the bit about "The Girls" Angry

If everyone here keeps clicking their site viewings will go up and bump them up the Google ranking. Everyone stop doing them a favour

smashboxmashbox · 24/10/2014 19:58

So how can we make them change it?

OP posts:
smashboxmashbox · 24/10/2014 20:00

or will I look like a twit if they are fake?

OP posts:
HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 24/10/2014 20:01

why bother ?

HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 24/10/2014 20:01

the more attention to it, the more airplay

merrymouse · 24/10/2014 20:01

Does he think it is funny in a "what a bunch of idiots" way or does he think its funny in a "wow they are so cool, I wish I worked there" way. If the latter I would dump him. Even without "the girls" it is pitiful.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 24/10/2014 20:01

Looks very like the sort of practice Website I did for my web design course (except mine didn't have the sexist garbage).

Most likely some girlfriend less, IT student prattling about, than a
proper company.

DH would probably think it funny for 10 seconds before he got a clip round the ear.

SevenZarkSeven · 24/10/2014 20:06

How did you stumble across the website OP?

I was going to ask earlier but got sidetracked by imagining myself with a glamorous new career in cyber-espionage Grin

sleepyhead · 24/10/2014 20:10

When you google this company (or its employees), this thread pops up right next to the website.

I'd let it die quietly. It's not clever enough to go viral. I'd suspect your dp's mate who sent him the link as being somehow involved.

goldface · 24/10/2014 20:11

This is why I love mumsnet. I love that people get why this sort of bollocks is so awful, take the piss out of it so well it makes me snort out loud and work out the most effective way of discrediting the twats responsible. All at the same time. I wonder if Bernard would be so effective...

BuckskinnedAstronaut · 24/10/2014 20:12

OP said that a friend of her boyfriend had forwarded it to him and he had shared it with her as being funny.

OP, it looks like a fake so leave it.

mummyofonesofar, viewings via direct clicking on a link (as opposed to from a Google search) will have no effect on their Google ranking unless they have a Google Analytics code in their page headers, which from the quality of the website I seriously doubt and it's almost certainly a fake anyway

Zazzles007 · 24/10/2014 20:13

Smashbox, I have posted in other threads on FWR that I have studied psychology for a long, long time, so I hope that you don't mind my take on the situation, which might give you some insight as to why you feel the way you do, and why your boyfriend's reaction has touched you so deeply.

It is likely that you are so, so angry about this site because it has (rightly) touched a deeply held value that you have, that women are important, and of intrinsic value in themselves. They warrant a name, a position, a description, a life, a human-ness beyond the usual ones sanctioned by our male dominated society. That your boyfriend has found this website funny shows that his values are deeply at odds with your own - he is very comfortable with the male dominated way the world is, and he sanctions it himself by supporting the very sexist beliefs that offend you. If I were you, I would examine your beliefs about how you value women, compared to how he values women, as in the long term, these two differing values are likely to be at odds with each other.

HTH

HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 24/10/2014 20:14

...in other words, don't waste any more time on this prick Halloween Grin

smashboxmashbox · 24/10/2014 20:15

Thank you Zazzles - I will reflect on what you have said.

OP posts:
mummyofonesofar · 24/10/2014 20:15

That's good then - everyone can snoop and see how disgusting and bad their page is. Even if it is real, who would buy from that company (or which women would let their men buy from here)!

smashboxmashbox · 24/10/2014 20:17

Thank you all for not belittling me and my ignorance of feminism (aka my lack of big words and proper ways to explain my feelings!)

OP posts:
HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 24/10/2014 20:20

OP, you described yourself as "not really a feminist"

I beg to differ Smile

smashboxmashbox · 24/10/2014 20:48

I just looked up the website address I have the name and address of the registrationant

OP posts:
smashboxmashbox · 24/10/2014 20:57

And I am led to believe

"the other elements on the page, about robert, bernard etc are in plaintext, open paragrahs, the comment about the girls - looking at the source, has a security token lock on it - obscuring whats in there, its history of edits and more - both the password and the justification for it thus locked, unlike its peers."

OP posts:
BuckskinnedAstronaut · 24/10/2014 21:42

What?

The (relevant bit of) page source is

Robert - The Boss Everything he says is to be obeyed he is always right :-) Bernard Crosby - The best Salesman and buyer in England ... why we hired him. Guy Taylor - Marketing and Purchasing Strategist. Headhunted in 2014. Full Time with
us now. Darren Brown - Accounts Manager - Whilst he is part of the OAM Group he has however been a part of our business since it started and his advice has been invaluable to myself in particular, an 'honourary' RD member. Paul Lelene of Offshore
Asset Management - Keeps our bank and the tax man happy. The Girls - They flounce about occasionally typing but usually just gossiping, hired purely to ogle at and grope when we get chance... joking they are the life and soul of the company.

You wouldn't see a history of edits on anything unless it were some kind of wiki (or unless you'd hacked into the administrator account, I suppose).

smashboxmashbox · 24/10/2014 21:48

ah ok I shall tell my tech head he got it wrong ;)

OP posts:
BuckskinnedAstronaut · 24/10/2014 21:54

I don't know... maybe he did hack into the admin account (or do something else clever)...

smashboxmashbox · 24/10/2014 21:55

not if thats illegal he wouldn't

OP posts:
HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 24/10/2014 21:57

have you ditched your boyfriend yet ?

messyisthenewtidy · 25/10/2014 07:11

It's this kind of crap that made me a feminist in the first place. Everything masquerading behind a joke. Women infantilized and defined by the way men see us which is nameless and there for sex.

No one seeing it as a problem cos it's small fry, gaslighting you into thinking you're the one with the problem.

Thank God for FWR.
