Ghostbusters 3 will star an all female cast.

I'm normally anti remake and throwing out a sequel 20 years after the fact...but I'm just impressed Hollywood is willing to risk alienating a massive fan base by starring women...and willing to star women in an action comedy which is an almost exclusively male genre.

Most of the comments I have seen have been negative because, "women don't like Ghostbusters so won't go the seen the film anyway so what is the point?" Hmm and, "men won't go see women because women aren't funny". Hmm Hmm Angry

Bill Murray has no agent. He rules.

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 09/10/2014 21:09

I think I have only ever seen it on tv. What did I miss?!

SevenZarkSeven · 09/10/2014 21:15

I remember the "this man has no dick" thing and sure I've only seen it on the telly maybe they uncut it more recently?

They do hack them around though I was surprised to learn that whole chunks of star wars were cut on the telly in the 80s when it was on every single year without fail at xmas Grin

I have consulted my crystal ball... They will be wearing boiler suits. Thus saving men's eyes from Melissa MacCarthy in anything else. However, the other three will be wearing teeny, tiny vest tops under their boiler suits so that they can do this in any 'resting' shots. There may also be a 'getting changed' scene.

I LOVED GBs so I'm really hopeful that this will be awesome.

noddingoff · 10/10/2014 11:13

I think your crystal ball is going to be right.

Roobix04 · 10/10/2014 11:20

My only problem with an all female cast is that Bill Murray isn't a female. It's not gonna be the same without him.

FuckOffFerret · 10/10/2014 11:50

The writer from The Heat managed to avoid getting Sandra Bulllock in to any "sexy undercover stripper" scenes or that sort of thing. So I have hopes that MrsTP's crystal ball needs a tune up Grin

My crystal ball does see an ironic-catwalk-esque reveal of the boiler suits though. Possibly a montage and some cheezy music.

It also forsees Bill Murray taking on a Charlie in Charlie's Angels type cameo role. Which would not be feminist but might be quite funny.

I am desperatly hoping it makes obscene amounts of money so this will be the first of many films where 50% actors are represented by 50% of the population.

I would love Bill Murray to be, not a Charlie type role exactly, but a bit of a mentor to the new generation. Who are obviously far more slick than he ever was. I think that would be fab!

PetulaGordino · 10/10/2014 13:20

bill murray could do the admin in the office Wink

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/10/2014 13:47

Bill Murray as their Admin would be awesome.

MrsTaraPlumbing · 10/10/2014 19:13

I dream of a future where scifi, action and comedy films are full of strong & funny women characters....
fingers crossed for this.
Thank god things have come along way since original ghost busters, but not nearly far enough for my liking.

WeAreGroot · 11/10/2014 19:26

What a disappointing response to the project from Ernie Hudson.

"I love females. I hope that if they go that way at least they’ll be funny, and if they’re not funny at least hopefully it’ll be sexy.................But all-female I think would be a bad idea. I don’t think the fans want to see that."

Urgh Angry

BriarRainbowshimmer · 11/10/2014 19:33

"I love females"
What type of females? Cows? Hens? Lionesses?

FuckOffFerret · 11/10/2014 20:02
Hmm

If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it’s all female, then why are you calling it Ghostbusters?

So it was male then it would still be Ghostbusters, even though it was different men? Explain that one. What bit of their penises made it Ghostbusters and not the 'bustin?

Women really are "Other" aren't they. Make a movie with all men and all fans are happy to watch it. All women and it's suddenly just a chick flick.

I can think of very few films where you couldn't do a remake or sequel with an almost entirely female cast
