Me too Smile

OutsSelf · 18/05/2014 22:37

Of those of us you refer to as you guys/ feminists, lemon

OutsSelf · 18/05/2014 22:41

Those deletions are boggling. In the context of all the race hate casually introduced up thread.

BillAndTedsMostFeministAdventu · 18/05/2014 22:44

Mn doesn't read the thread, they delete individual posts that break guidelines. I didn't see flora's but I guess it was meant as a joke but would be a PA on the face of it?

A PA, perhaps, but not one that was reported by the intended 'victim', me, and I expressed quite clearly that I was amused. Soooooo.

BillAndTedsMostFeministAdventu · 18/05/2014 22:50

Ah, ok. If Kim asked them to take a general look at the thread they may have deleted (seeming) PAs in passing.

Periodically it's debated on Site Stuff if only the subject of a PA should be allowed to request its deletion but MNHQ are always against that (and I tend to agree with them)

CuntCourtIsInSession · 18/05/2014 22:53

Fair enough so! Smile Night all.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 18/05/2014 22:54

MNHQ agreed the post was islamophobic several hours before you did, kim.

FWIW.

They've been watching the thread since I asked them to, which was a fair while back.

Honestly, I think a heck of a lot more is delete-worthy, but there we go.

They said, because we'd all been very clear about where you were wrong.

They did accept later on it was getting beyond acceptable.

What you said was Islamophobic.

I think you said it because there is something going on with you. I don't know what that is. I have said before on this thread that I think you are not posting like the person I thought you were at all.

OutsSelf · 18/05/2014 23:07

I think you easily can be racist without feeling hate or even mild dislike for people minority and oppressed groups, though. All you have to do is identify them with their dominant ideological inscription, which is what you did WRT Muslims. If all racism was simple burn-the-fuckers hatred it would be easy to dismiss and defeat. Same as sexism, in this regard. I have heard many deeply sexist men claim to love women. In fact, I've never heard a man making that statement whom I did not find to be deeply sexist. Just because you mean well and have happy feelings toward Muslims, for.example, doesn't mean you haven't participated in their oppression by unquestioningly reifying their social.construction as terrorists.

To be really clear for your mind, it was when you associated Muslims with terrorism, then refused to consider that terrorism law might itself disproportionately affect Muslims, then went looking for.figures to prove your point, which you were so keen to do you misread those figures and then failed absolutely to retract or reconsider any one of those steps. It may hurt to be accused of islamaphobia but tbh I think it's probably slightly more hurtful to be actually Islamic, under the circumstances.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 18/05/2014 23:25

I really appreciate you saying that, kim.

CaptChaos · 18/05/2014 23:32

Kim, are you ok? You've rally not seemed like yourself today.

Sorry for the slight detour here!

Montmorency1 · 19/05/2014 00:45

So what's the consensus here?

Is "Not all X" to be considered typically inappropriate and self-centered?

LRDtheFeministDragon · 19/05/2014 00:48

I don't think we have a consensus, and I don't think we should feel we need to have one. We do need to be able to debate.

Montmorency1 · 19/05/2014 00:51

Or is it not all "Not all X"?

:O

BillAndTedsMostFeministAdventu · 19/05/2014 06:23
